As temps start to cool and leaves begin to change, we wanted to make our way to the mountains of Colorado for the fall. Heading from Moab, Mesa Verde National Park seemed like the perfect spot to begin our autumn explorations!
After a quick Campendium search, we stumble upon The Views RV Park & Campground – a recently opened, rustic retreat located in Dolores, Colorado.
We’d like to give a huge “thank you & shout out” to The Views for hosting our five-day visit.
Here’s the Breakdown:
Location: Dolores, Colorado
GPS: 37.4891, -108.5944
Date / Temp: We camped here for 5 nights in early September and the temps were mild with daytime highs in the 80s and nights in the 50s.
Amenities: The Views RV Park offers spacious, full hookup sites and pristine bathrooms. There’s a laundry room onsite, as well. Our favorite feature was the authentic “campground vibe” with full hookup amenities.
The park also offers two glamping tents, and these are the real deal! They’re large, charming and have decks with mountain views.
Wifi / Cell: We received a strong 4G LTE signal with both AT&T and T-Mobile. The park has free wifi as well. We were able to log on and use it easily, but for heavy data consumption, we used our AT&T hotspot.
Noise: The Views was one of the most peaceful RV parks we’ve visited in quite a while. With spacious sites and lots of trees, we weren’t bothered once by guests or traffic.
Grocery / Errands: Downtown Dolores is only 6 miles away, but it doesn’t offer much in regards to running errands. Cortez (12 miles) had all the shopping and services we needed to complete our checklist of chores.
Dog Friendly: This park is dog friendly. There’s a lot of room to walk our pup around the park and to play fetch at our site. Having full hookups here, we felt comforted knowing our pup was cool while we were away.
Entertainment: Mesa Verde is the big attraction in the area – there’s tons of hiking and history in the National Park. If you’re into antique shopping and cafe-eating, downtown Dolores has a few blocks worth strolling around. Also, right across the street is the McPhee Reservoir – a perfect spot for water sports.

What a wonderful area this is, I could spend months exploring and never get more than a hundred mile from camp.
One easily overlooked treasure would be the Notah Dineh Trading Company and Museum.
