Top Five 4th of July Campgrounds 2018

The 4th of July is just around the corner and we know everyones getting excited for cookouts and fireworks, so we compiled a list of some of our favorite campgrounds that would be great for celebrating this Independence day!

We called each park and asked specifically about availability for the day of the 4th, but many had many more openings for the weekend before and after. Independence day falls on a Wednesday this year, so if you can’t get away mid week… you could always spend a weekend exploring and enjoying the area!

Please note, this was the availability when the article was written, make sure to call each park ASAP for up to date availability.

Catherine’s Landing

Location: Hot Springs, AR

The Red, White and You Picnic in the Park!

We really loved this park and all the amenities it offers. They have a pool, kayaks for rent and you can even zip line right from the park! It’s is a great base to explore Hot Springs. Some of our favorite spots for a bite to eat (with vegan options) are Deluca’s Pizzeria, they make our favorite pizza in the entire country so far, and Kollective Coffee+Tea for some local kombucha and some great breakfast and lunch options.

Flying Flags Resort

Location: Buellton, CA

Availability: Only about 6 RV spots left!!

Activities: Solvang Fireworks Show & Festival

Art Show at the Old Mission Santa Barbara

Contact: (805) 688-3716

This park is huge and beautiful, it’s one of the nicest resorts we’ve been to yet. It has so many amenities right on site and is a perfect location to explore all the local wineries in the area. We did a wine tasting in Los Olivos, ate pastries in the danish style town of Solvang and tried the famous Pea Soup Anderson’s.

This quiet little campground sits in a beautiful valley in the town Angel Fire. Its located in the Enchanted Circle region of northern New Mexico, with many vibrant communities full of culture, art and outdoor activities. The owners are so kind and we even shared a beer and a meal at the local brewery.

Stella Mare RV Resort

Location: Galveston, TX

Activities: Fourth of July Celebration at Kemah Boardwalk

Contact: (409) 632-7017

We visited Stella Mare when it was brand new and we loved the large spacious sites and large clean bathrooms. The proximity to downtown Galveston is a major bonus too and the drive along the ocean is stunning. We walked down the boardwalk and got a bite to eat at The Mosquito cafe.

D.H. Day Campgrounds

Location: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, MI

Availability: 88 campsites, first come first serve.

Activities: Frankfort Parade and Fireworks

We’ve never actually stayed at this park, but we stayed nearby (those campgrounds were fully booked for the 4th) and its such a beautiful area right on Lake Michigan with great hiking trails. We loved exploring Frankfort and walking to the lighthouse and dog friendly beach.

Stella Mars in galveston at $88 per nite is a little bit much for a camping spot…i can get a motel cheaper than that

  2. drivinandvibin says:

It is a Resort style campground so it is a bit more expensive than a typical RV park. There are also some great free camping spots on Goat Island nearby.
