Florida Keys Campgrounds
Jolly Roger RV Resort
Location: Marathon, Fl
GPS : 24.7701, -80.941
Price: $73 – $105
Pros: This is a family friendly campground right on the water with sites available along the sea wall. They have large sites that can accommodate rigs 40ft or longer and lots of shade.
You can swim and snorkel right from the park. Many amenities on site, such as – heated/cooled pool, free boat ramp, large dog park, restrooms, laundry, group pavilion and free HD cable TV and WiFi.
Cons: A bit pricey. Some reviews mention unattended children running around the park and lots of wildlife (lizards, iguanas).
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 9.5/10 This campground definitely captures the essence of the FL Keys and offers so much to do on site or serves as a great base to explore the parks, aquariums and museums of Marathon, FL.
John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park
Location: Key Largo, FL
GPS: 25.127, -80.4092
Price: $43
Pros: Affordable option with access to the beach and nature trails, snorkel and glass bottom boat tours as well as boat rentals available. Encompasses 70 nautical square miles.
Visitor center has a 30,000 gallon salt water aquarium nature exhibits. Laundry and restrooms available. Sites have water and electric.
Cons: Sites are narrow and lack privacy. Due to proximity it can be noisy. No sewer hook-up at site. (dump station available)
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 7/10 modest campground but location is great, close walk to the dive shop and other fun attractions. Definitely a good affordable option.
John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park
Curry Hammock State Park
Location: Marathon, FL
GPS: 24.7428, -80.9828
Price: $43
Pros: This campground has large gravel sites with water and electric, that can accommodate 70ft rigs. There is access to 1,200 ft sandy beach and 1.5 mile nature trail.
Close proximity to town for restaurants and shopping. The park encourages stargazing with the local astronomy group on Saturday night.
Cons: Not the most high end bath facilities – composting toilets and solar-powered hot showers. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach and no boat launch except for kayaks. Diving is not ideal, mostly seagrass instead of the typical coral reef.
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 6/10 The sites are spacious and level and it has great proximity to marathon. Walking and biking trail is a definite plus and the kayaking and windsurfing is great.
However, the beach has a lot of vegetation and is shallow water with sea grass, so not ideal for swimming snorkeling.
Boyd’s Key West Campground
Location: Key West, FL
GPS: 24.5703, -81.7331
Price: $69 – $135
Pros: This campground has beautiful back in sites right on the water. They offer 30/50amp full hook-up sites and can accommodate up to 45ft rigs. Also, primitive waterfront sites available for tent camping.
They have a marina, kayak slip, laundry, heated pool, and bathrooms on site. They offer kayak and paddle board rentals. Great basecamp to explore downtown Key West.
Cons: Larger rig sites are limited. Pricey, with primitive tent sites starting at $69 and up to $87 for waterfront spot. Spots are tight, but pretty typical for Key West.
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 8/10 This campground is all about the location! There aren’t many options in Key West and this campground is just a short drive from downtown.
The waterfront sites offer a beautiful view and you can bike or kayak (like our awesome origami kayak) right from the park!
Bluewater Key RV Park
Location: Key West, FL
GPS: 24.6239, -81.6006
Price: $155 -$230
Pros: This is the most high end resort on our list, with private lots and your own personal tiki hut. Full hook-up sites with curbside trash and recycling pick up, community dock, dog park, clubhouse and heated pool. Waterfront sites available.
Cons: Very expensive.
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 10/10 This is the ultimate luxury resort. If you can afford it, treat yourself to its beauty, amenities and location.
Fiesta Key RV Resort
Location: Long Key, FL
GPS: 24.8398, -80.7923
Price: $129- $173
Pros: Beautiful 28 acre Resort with Full hook-up sites. Waterfront back-in sites available. Theres an on site marina, pool, spa, playground restaurant and bar. Nearby attractions are Long Key State Park and Dolphin Research Center and par usually has daily activities.
Cons: It’s 30- 45 minutes from other restaurants. Quite pricey, but expected from a resort campground.

Lazy Lakes RV Resort
Location: Sugarloaf Key, FL
GPS: 24.6553, -81.5226
Price: $90-$125
Pros: This resort is on a 7 acre salt water lake and only 15 minutes from Key West. Amenities include -Full hook-up sites, laundry facilities and a heated pool. The park is also dog friendly.
Cons: Still recovering from hurricane damage, no direct ocean access and lack of privacy between sites.
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 6/10 This campground is a great basecamp to explore the famous Duvall St and other attractions of Key West, but loses some points for lack of ocean access.
Geiger Key RV Park
Location: Key West, FL
GPS: 24.582, -81.6486
Price: $138 – $161
Pros: This park has waterfront full hook-up sites available with tiki huts, boat slips, showers, laundry and access to the Florida Keys famous fishing reef. Restaurant on site with live music. Charters for deep water fishing, paddle board and kayak rentals available
Cons: Air base next door and the jets can be noisy during the day.
Florida Keys Campground Vibes Score: 10/10 Great campground with tons of amenities and activities to do on site.
Key Largo Kampground & Marina
Location: Key Largo, FL

Price: $85-$130
Pros: Full hook up sites, waterfront sites with boat slip available. Great snorkeling, scuba diving and fishing from the park. The campground also has 24 hr security gate, laundry facilities, bath houses, pool, boat launch, volleyball, basketball and boccie ball courts. Only one block from shopping and grocery stores.
Cons: Sites can be crowded.

We scored two weeks at John Pennecamp at one of the full hookup sites February. Nice walking trails in the park and in the property a couple miles North which is managed by the Park. Be aware that the the no see sums in the campground can be horrendous. Half of the sites brought screen tents. I changed our screen door’s screen to no see sums screen while we were there.
