Betsie River Campground – Frankfort, MI

Cabin Price: $69-$85

Why You’ll Love It: Bestie River Campground is a perfectly rustic site nestled in the charming coastal community of Frankfort. These cabins fall on the more primitive side of the cabin spectrum, but they also cost 50% less than nearby hotels.

The cabins offer 20amp electric, fan, heater, picnic table and fire pit. There is a central bath house located very close. The campground also offers kayak & canoe rentals.

Nearby Activities: Frankfort is one of our favorite towns in the USA. The downtown area has wonderful shops & restaurants. There are miles of waterfront walking & biking trails that connect directly to the campground.

Lighthouse tours are another popular attraction, both in Frankfort and along the entire western coast of Michigan.

Campgrounds With Cabins In Michigan Vibes: 6.2/10 These cabins may be a little too rustic for the basic traveler. The upside is price savings compared to local hotels. However, if you’re looking for a rustic camping experience, these cabins may be just what you need.

Indigo Bluffs RV Resort – Empire, MI

Cabin Price: Starting at $200 (rustic cabins starting at $60)

Why You’ll Love It: Indigo Bluffs gives you lots of choices! While they do offer rustic cabins for $60, today we’re highlighting the high end cabins (aka cottages).

These cottages come in two layouts: standard and loft. Both layouts can comfortably host up to 4 people. The modern design, abundance of natural light and huge showers elevate these cottages to “way-better-than-hotel” status.

We absolutely loved our stay at Indigo Bluffs. Aside from the cottages, the resort has an awesome heated pool with large patio space.

Nearby Activities: Sleeping Bear Dunes is a must visit when you’re camping here. You’ll be blown away by the epic sand dunes. The National Park offers so many easy to hike trails with multiple scenic overlooks.

Campgrounds With Cabins In Michigan Vibes: 9.5/10 The combination of onsite facilities and National Park proximity gives Indigo Bluffs a high rating! We can’t recommend this one enough.

St. Ignace / Mackinac Island KOA

Cabin Price: $60 – $120 (Standard or Deluxe Layout)

Why You’ll Love It: KOA is the most well-know campground brand across America. They take the hassle out of your camping trip by providing great amenities and on-site activities for your entire family.

This KOA offers two types of cabins, standard and deluxe. The main difference is that deluxe cabins offer a full bathroom.

Other campground amenities include: a dog park, pool, bike rentals, mini golf and wifi.

Nearby Activities: This area is full of fun activities. To begin, the shore is beautiful and admiring the Mackinac Bridge in the distance is a peaceful way to wake up! Take a ferry to Mackinac Island and enjoy biking the car-less roads.

You can visit the historic lighthouses and museums for a daily dose of education.

Country Village RV Park – Ishpeming, MI

Cabin Price: Varies greatly

Why You’ll Love It: The reason we’re featuring Country Village on this list is because they cover two ends of the spectrum. Their extremely rustic cabins are just a few steps above tent camping, but their vacation “cabins” are luxurious lofts perfect for your whole family.

This park would be great for a small event or family reunion. Their pool (and hot tub) is pretty sweet too!

Nearby Activities: Country Village is located in the historic iron ore community of Ishpeming. Its a quick drive to Marquette, a coastal town with amazing trails and even better fresh caught fish.

If you love local farmers markets – there’s a huge stand just a few miles from the park.

Campgrounds With Cabins In Michigan Vibes: 6.4/10 We really like the options at Country Village. However, it isn’t the most scenic park.

Sherman’s Resort – Curtis, MI

Price: $120 and up

Why You’ll Love It: This is quintessential Michigan cabin camping located on Manistique Lake. The log cabin vibes and the immediate access to surrounding nature makes this a must-stay-cabin for family fun!

There are a variety of cabins to choose from and they’re all priced in the same ballpark. The cabins can sleep up to 7 people and have full kitchens & baths.

Nearby Activities: You don’t have to leave the campground for your fun activities. The resort has 1000 feet of lakefront access. It’s a perfect basecamp for your kayak adventures (we love traveling with this folding kayak). And, best of all, it’s a duck hunters paradise.

Campgrounds With Cabins In Michigan Vibes: 9.5/10 Do it right and get a cabin at Sherman’s!

Covert Park Beach & Campground – Covert, MI

Price: $55

Why You’ll Love It: The rustic cabins are super affordable and they have nearby beach access. The cabins do provide electricity, double bed or twin bunks, tables, chairs and a covered porch.

You’ll love these if you want authentic camp-vibes without the hassle of tent camping. Remember, this is also a day-use area, which can make it a little busy sometimes.

Nearby Activities: All the waterfront activities are available onsite! Nearby you’ll find the standard “Pure Michigan” stuff like breweries, vineyards, bike trails and farmer markets. 15 miles north in St Joseph you can enjoy the Friday Night Concert Series.

Mackinac Mill Creek Campground – Mackinaw City

Why You’ll Love It: The proof is in the pudding. This campground has been voted “Michgan’s Best Campground” and “Top Family Friendly Campground.” The park has access to natural beach front and miles of trails.

They also have a lot of choices for your cabin camping needs. Primarily, you can choose if you want a waterfront cabin or not.

Nearby Activities: Mackinac Mill is located 5 minutes from the Mackinac Ferry. If you want less touristy vibes, you can drive south to Cheboygan. There you’ll find a charming downtown, beautiful city parks and more lighthouses!
