7 Best New Orleans RV Parks

There’s no doubt that New Orleans, Louisiana is one of the most unique cities in the USA. If you’re searching for the best New Orleans RV parks, you’ve come to the right place!

Whether you’re visiting for the festive Mardi Gras season or an extra-spooky halloween, the city has fun events year round. We love visiting the Big Easy in our RV because there are also great RV park & campground options.

Today we’re sharing 7 of the best places to set up camp in New Orleans. We’ll share price, location and amenity info for each RV park. Additionally, each spot will have a unique “New Orleans RV Park Vibe” score for easy head-to-head comparison.

Let’s dive in!

French Quarter, New Orleans RV Parks

French Quarter, New Orleans RV Parks

1. Bayou Segnette State Park

Price: $25-$40

Miles to French Quarter: 14 miles

Why You’ll Love It: There are two types of RV Parks in New Orleans; nature filled campgrounds outside the city and tightly packed parking lots near the city center. Bayou Segenette State Park falls into the first group – lush green nature camping (and a 20 minute drive into the city).

We love that the sites are beautiful paved pads surrounded by grass and trees. The offer mostly water and electric sites…and have a lot of them!

There’s a central bath house and laundry room (no charge washing machines!) as well as a playground and community center. There’s also a dump station available. However, on departure day there can be a long line to use it.

What’s The Word: A recent Campendium review says, “This state park is a great option for exploring New Orleans if you want to come back to nature at the end of a busy day. The sites are pretty big and level and surrounded by grass and trees. Value: While it’s more expensive than other state parks we’ve stayed in, it was the least expensive, good option in the area.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 8.9/10 Great nature surroundings and decent proximity to the action!

2. French Quarter RV Resort

Price: starts at $105

Miles to French Quarter: 0.7 miles

Why You’ll Love It: French Quarter RV Resort has the best location of all the New Orleans RV Parks and the amenities are pretty great, too! However, don’t expect spacious sites. The concrete pads are very nice & level, but your neighbor will be a few feet away.

The RV resort has 24 hour security and a gated entry with keyed passcode. Even though the location is deep within the city, we never felt unsafe. We both walked and taxied into the French Quarter.

There’s also a well kept pool, bathroom and showers available.

What’s The Word: A recent reviewer on Campground Reviews says, “Perfect location to visit the French Quarter. Worth every dollar to be that close. Park is fully secure and gated. Pool was awesome, bathrooms were clean & laundry facilities were clean. They have a BBQ grill you can use along with a commercial ice machine for guests. Complimentary coffee in the morning if you wish. Staff was friendly and eve booked an airboat tour for us. Sites can accommodate big rigs and there is a space for your tow vehicle. I would highly recommend FQRV if you are coming down to the Big Easy.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 9.4/10 The price is high, but the overall New Orleans experience is second to none!

3. Pontchartrain Landing

Price: from around $60 to $160

Miles to French Quarter: 6 miles

Why You’ll Love It: Pontchartrain Landing is located on the water – that’s always a big plus! This large RV park offers many options when it comes to specific sites. They have 6 levels, beginning with the “Standard” and moving up to the “Presidential”.

Onsite you’ll find amenities like free wifi, a pool, 24 hour laundry, a restaurant and a children’s playground. The most high-end RV sites offer features like a private hot tub and shaded patio.

What’s The Word: Teddi on Campground Reviews says, “We paid $48 / night for water/electric 50 amp/sewer/cable/wifi with Passport American discount ($83 without)…This was our first time in New Orleans and the young woman in the office was incredibly nice and assisted us with directions, sites to see, etc.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 7.4/10 Good location, lots of amenities and luxury options for those willing to pay the price!

4. New Orleans KOA

Price: starts around $40

Miles to French Quarter: 13 miles

Why You’ll Love It: KOA RV parks are known for their family friendly amenities…and the New Orleans KOA is no different. Onsite they have a pool, dog park, free wifi and a tour shuttle.

The sites are packed in pretty tightly, but large rigs can still find a spot here.

If you’re traveling with a family, we recommend the KOA New Orleans. If you’re looking for peace & quiet…a local state park might be the better option.

What’s The Word: A recent review on Campendium says, “We stayed here two nights while visiting NO for the first time. The price is steep for what the park is but we chose this place for safety, knowing we could go downtown and explore while our rig stayed safe was huge and for the fact that they have a daily shuttle so we didn’t need to worry about parking.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 6.8/10 Typical KOA…depending on your camping needs, that can be good or bad.

5. Jude Travel Park

Price: $39 and up

Miles to French Quarter: 6.5 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This basic, no frills RV park will get you within 7 miles of the French Quarter at under $40 a night. That’s a pretty sweet deal.

However, the park isn’t much to write home about. Security is a big factor among campers here. The neighborhood isn’t the greatest, but the gated entry and 24 hour security make visitors feel secure.

The staff is very knowledgable about the area and can guide you in the right direction.

What’s The Word: Chucky on Campground reviews says, “They offer shuttle service into the French Quarter for $10 round trip. The only drawback is the train switch yard at the rear and the 4 lane hwy in the front. Motorcycles race up and down it til late at night. They charge a service fee of $4 if using a credit card.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 5.8/10 Good price, but super basic park.

6. Three Oaks and a Pine

Price: $35 and up

Miles to French Quarter: 6.5 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This park is located right next to Jude Travel Park (#5 on this list) and the starting rate is $35. That’s another sweet deal based on its location.

The park is small, but the sites are not! Many RVers who left reviews on Three Oaks mention the spacious sites, giving campers extra room from their neighbors.

Three Oaks also allows dogs, big rigs (up to 80 feet), and has full hookups. The security onsite include gated entry with passcode and video surveillance.

What’s The Word: Terry on Campground Reviews says, “Park is clean with large lots and well maintained. Park is gated with security locked and well lighted. Close to bus stops when going to French Quarter. Management staff are warm and friendly and always helpful. Owner is an exceptional lady who goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome.”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 6.5/10 Big rig friendly and close to town.

7. French Quarter Public Parking

Price: $50

Miles to French Quarter: 0.5 miles

Why You’ll Love It: Let’s be clear, this isn’t an RV park. The French Quarter Public Parking is a large parking lot (a block from the French Quarter RV Resort) that allows overnight RV parking for $50.

There are no hookups available at this site. However, there’s police security that monitors the area regularly and has a station around the corner.

Here’s the good stuff; you’ll be half a mile from the French Quarter and pay half the price of the nearest RV park. We understand this option isn’t for everyone. For those open to this camping experience, it just might be the best location in New Orleans to set up camp!

What’s The Word: Cara on Campendium says, “This was perfect for a 1 night stay in our 24 ft Class C motor home…Cop was patrolling parking lot for first 3 hours we were there so we felt safe and police station was right around block…it took us 6 minutes to walk to bourbon street…We initially were weary of this lot due to 1 bad review but this was totally worth it!”

New Orleans RV Park Vibe: 8.7/10 Great for adventurous RVers!
