Skidaway Island State Park

Price: $40 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 14 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This is a beautiful state park with spacious camping sites and numerous hiking trails. It’s so beloved among campers that its received the “Campers Choice” award from Campendium two years in a row!

In addition to the 87 camping sites (tents, RVs & trailers), Skidaway Island State Park also offers cabins, picnic shelters, group campsites and a group shelter with 150 seats.

What’s the Word: Phil on Campendium says, “beautiful, large, level sites, friendly staff. As soon as someone pulled out, the staff came and raked out the sites. Nice hiking trails and close to Savannah, 40 minutes to Tybee Island, and a Publix just around the corner.”

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort

Price: $45 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 6 miles

Why You’ll Love It: Red Gate Campground will give you all the #chillvibes you’re looking for. Located on a hobby farm, the surrounding area is rustic with beautiful scenery. Best of all, you’re only 6 miles from downtown Savannah!

The amenities at Red Gate include a pool, club house, fishing deck, biking trails, wifi and horseshoe pit.

What’s the Word: Steve on Campendium says, “Red Gate will be our go-to camping spot for all of our future Savannah visits. It was an easy 5-10 minute drive to the Savannah Visitors Center. The family run farm was clean and had a wonderful staff. It was interesting and beautiful. Our dogs loved the farm animals. The wi-fi was fast and consistently strong.”

Savannah GA Campgrounds Vibe: 8.7/10 Awesomely unique RV park close to downtown Savannah.

CreekFire Motor Ranch

Price: $55 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 16 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This campground is perfect for RVers who want a luxury camping experience. The resort amenities are our favorite features of CreekFire. Onsite they offer a resort style pool, hot tub, boat rentals, pickleball court, live entertainment, and wifi.

They do have primitive tent sites, but we recommend the state parks for tenting.

What’s the Word: Karyn on Campendium says, “This RV park was fantastic! The sites are huge – we had a large pull-through site for our 39’ fifth wheel. The site was level, clean, and easy to get into – there is a good amount of space between each site. The campground was extremely clean; people were very friendly and accepted packages for us while we were there”

Savannah GA Campgrounds Vibe: 8.2/10 Luxury park with fun amenities!

Savannah South KOA

Price: $43 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 22 miles

Why You’ll Love It: If you like KOA campgrounds, you’ll love this one. Savannah South KOA is a family friendly park with lots of amenities for the kids…not to mention, they’re dog friendly as well!

On site amenities include a pool, fishing access, a dog park, and wifi.

Although you’ll be 22 miles south of downtown Savannah at this KOA, it locates you away from the traffic of the city.

What’s the Word: Sue & Dave on Campendium say, “This is our first KOA experience and was very nice. Spots are gravel and level with some having patios. Tall thin trees with plenty of shade but not in the way for parking. Nice lake for fishing. Swimming pool well maintained as well as laundry room.”

Savannah GA Campgrounds Vibe: 6.8/10 If you like KOAs, you’ll like this!

Biltmore RV Park

Price: $40 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 6.5 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This mom & pop park isn’t about the frills & luxury of an RV resort, rather its a competitively priced campground quite close to downtown Savannah.

If you want to explore Savannah and simply need an affordable basecamp, Biltmore RV Park is a good option.

What’s the Word: Jodee on Campendium says, “The office is in the antique store in front although the sign is low on the wall and easy to miss. Nice staff and helpful with what to see and do in the area.”

Savannah GA Campgrounds Vibe: 5.8/10 Great park for a camper with the right expectations.

Camp Lake Jasper RV Resort

Price: $51 and up

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 21 miles

Why You’ll Love It: This secluded campground will position you among beautiful surroundings and away from large tourist crowds. Camp Lake Jasper is the perfect combo of “rustic campground” and RV resort. The landscaping is well kept and the sites are on grass.

Onsite amenities include free wifi, lake front views, community fire pit, resort style swimming pool and fishing dock.

What’s the Word: Casa on Campendium says, “This is in a great location, just off I-95, but far enough away that we heard zero road noise. The loudest things in the area are a neighbor’s chickens, though they didn’t bother us. No trees for shade. Still, it’s a decent RV park with reasonably-sized spaces”

Savannah Trade and Convention Center

Price: $30

Miles to Downtown Savannah: 1 mile walk – It’s smack dab in the middle of downtown!

Why You’ll Love It: Location is everything here! Let us be clear, this isn’t an “RV park”. It’s more like overnight parking. You won’t get the amenities, but you will get walking access to Savannah.

The price has gone up over the past years, but we still think the value is great!

What’s the Word: Nick on Campendium says, “They took a 2 night stay for us to dry camp in an ‘open field’ that is directly across the river from downtown and we will be able to take a free ferry across to sightsee. The cost IS $30 a night”
