However, if you’re ready to ditch the tent or leave your RV at home, we’re filling you in on the best Grand Canyon lodges in 2020.

Bright Angel Lodge
Price: starting around $175
Year Built: 1935
Why You’ll Love It: To begin with, this lodge is a Registered National Historic Landmark. The rooms have rustic charm (some with fireplaces) and amazing views of the National Park.
It was designed by famous architect Mary E.J. Colter and has hosted many notable guests.
The lodge consists of 90 rooms, no two alike. You can see many of the lodging options on the Bright Angle Lodge website.
What’s The Word: Dawn on Google Reviews says, “Bright Angle lodge did NOT disappoint! We stayed in a cozy partial view with fireplace cabin. I would consider the view more then partial. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will recommend this cabin to everyone. Thank you Bright Angel team for you hospitality.”
El Tovar Hotel
Price: starting around $260
Year Built: 1903
Why You’ll Love It: The El Tovar Hotel is located directly on the rim of the Grand Canyon. You can’t beat the location! It’s also one of the most luxurious lodges at the park.
With 73 rooms, 13 of which are suites, booking a reservation may be challenging. However, the onsite amenities make it worth the effort. Here’s what you’ll get:
- Bell service.
- All accommodations include satellite TV, in-room coffeemaker, safe, telephone, hair dryer, full bath and air conditioning.
- Fine Dining Restaurant
- Complimentary self-parking.
- In-room dining is available for breakfast and dinner.
What’s The Word: Craig on Google Reviews says, “We were only here for one night on our trip but the historical hotel and amazing view of the Canyon was so worth the detour. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.”
Kachina Lodge
Price: starts around $250
Year Built: 1971
Why You’ll Love It: The Kachina Lodge is also located along the Grand Canyon rim. However, it has much more of a hotel room feel (in a good way). If you’re looking for a less-historic room, these will be great.
The rooms are family friendly – with optional couch sleeping and space for cots. Flat screen TVs and wifi is also provided for each room.
What’s The Word: Colette on Google Reviews says, “Great Village location. Canyon view room was nice. Would stay here again. Parking is limited, no luggage carts or bell service. It’s a 5 min hillside walk to the park shuttle stop”
Thunderbird Lodge
Price: Starts around $150
Year Built: 1970s
Why You’ll Love It: This family-friendly lodge is also friendlier on the wallet. The 55 rooms have a dorm/motel feel, but provide ideal locations and amenities.
It’s located within walking distance of the rim and Visitors Center. You can also access nearby shops and restaurants. The rooms provide TVs, coffee makers and bathrooms.
While you won’t get the luxury of El Tovar Hotel, you will have a wonderful room for your Grand Canyon family vacation.
What’s The Word: Mark on Google Reviews says, “Hotel Staff were great! Top notch views! Free bus is GREAT! Especially since parking is tough! The earlier you get there the day you check in, the better chance for parking spot.”

You really missed it if you didn’t visit the North Rim. Much less crowed &
commercial & the cabins are RIGHT on the rim. Those are usually booked a year ahead.
