Popular Activities in Anza Borrego
There is an endless number of things to do in Anza Borrego ranging from sitting by the pool at the hotel to hiking through the badlands. These are three must-see things to do.
- See the wildflowers in spring.
One of the must see things to do is the wildflowers in the springtime. The season is short and people from all over flock to see the bloom and for good reason. The entire floor of the desert is covered in all different colors. The monarch butterflies also migrate through at this time in the thousands.
- Explore the badlands area
There are over 500 miles of dirt road and some of them take you through the badlands area. You will have the opportunity to explore through the eroded canyons and see the many different colors of rocks and sands. Anza Borrego also offers dispersed camping anywhere.

- Check out the Pumpkin Patch Rocks
The pumpkin Patch rocks are like being in a whole other world. These large round rocks of sandstone offer a unique perspective in this landscape.

If you want to go to Anza Borrego for camping it has something for everyone. There are established campground resorts to dispersed camping anywhere in the park.
- Blair Valley
Blair Valley is a great spot that is free to camp at. Nestled along a desert mountain just off the main road along a well-groomed dirt road, this is the perfect place to get away. This camping area has plenty of space for larger rigs and they are spaced out enough to not feel crowded.
This is a great place to watch sunrises and sunsets if you are willing to take the short walk to the top of the mountain. This site has no amenities and some cell service for all carriers.
- Yaqui Pass Camp
Yaqui Pass Camp is also another great spot for free camping. It’s easy to access on a dirt road for any size RV. It is a very quiet place and perfect for sunsets. There are no amenities so pack in and pack out all that you need.
This area is very large so it is easy to spread out and not feel cramped. There is very little cell service so plan accordingly.

- Borrego Palm Canyon Campground
Borrego Palm Canyon Campground is an established campground that costs $25 for non-hookup sites to $35 with full hook-ups. This site can fit an RV up to 35’ and has all the amenities you need (water, electric, dump, bathrooms with showers, tables).
This Anza Borrego campground is located just outside of Borrego Springs making it centrally located for hiking and walking around town. Cell service is available for all carriers.
- Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort
Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort is located in Borrego Springs making it a great place to go shopping and get ice cream on hotter days. The RV spots can accommodate any size RV. The spots can feel a little close when the park is full but the site offers full amenities. T
