Waterfalls are a stunning and a refreshing reward after a summer hike. Wisconsin has a few great waterfalls that are sure to be a highlight of a camping trip or day excursion.

#1 Big Manitou Falls
About the Falls: The highest falls in Wisconsin, and the 4th highest east of the Rockies, the Big Manitou Falls is 165 feet tall, and located on the Black River. Native Americans thought they could hear the voice of the Great Spirit in the Falls. It was designated a State Natural Area in 2003.
Location: Pattison State Park, Douglas County, about 13 miles south of Superior.
Great Nearby Campsite: Pattison State Park Campground, 6294 WI-35, Superior, WI 54880
This campground is located right in the park, and has 59 regular campsites and 3 backpack access sites. There is a dump station, but no sewer or water hookups, and showers and flush toilets are available in the summer but the campground is open year-round!

#2 Copper Falls
About the Falls: Copper Falls is known as one of the most scenic areas in Wisconsin due to ancient lava flows, gorges, and of course the falls. There are also three mountain bike (or cross country ski) trails at this park, and there is a great view into the 80 foot deep gorge from the overlook.
The Falls themselves are a broken series of cascades that can be appreciated from various angles, and some of the viewing areas are handicap accessible which is unusual for this area. The drop is around 30 feet, and nearby Brownstone Falls can be easily added onto a Copper Falls trip.

This campground offers RV, tent and cabin accommodations, on the shores of Long Lake.
Camp is 8 miles from Copper Falls, and in close proximity to over 60 waterfalls, the Chequamegon National Forest, Lake Superior, and more. They offer watercraft rentals, including a pontoon boat, canoe, kayaks, SUP, and fishing boats.

#3 Morgan Falls
About the Falls: With a 1.2 mile round trip, easy hike, your family can view Morgan Falls, cascading 80-100 feet into Morgan Creek. The hike to the falls is easy, but more adventurous hikers can continue onward to a more challenging portion which visits St. Peter’s Dome, the highest point in the Chequamegon National Forest.
The view of fall colors here is one of the best in Wisconsin.
Location: The falls are very remote but easy to get to as forest roads get you pretty close. From Mellen, you can go north on Hwy 13 and left on 112, to left on County Road E, then left on FR 199 for 5 miles.

With 400 feet of lake frontage, a sandy beach, onsite bar, horseshoes and playground, this campground has everything required of a northern vacation.

#4 Wequiock Falls
About the Falls (height, access, details): The Wequiock Falls is part of the Lake Michigan Falls, and has a height of 25 feet. Best viewed in spring, the falls slow to a trickle in dry summers. Located in a small roadside part, there is an old bridge and stone stairs to guide you to the bottom of the falls.
Location: 3426 Bay Settlement Road, Green Bay, WI
Great Nearby Campsite: Cedar Valley Campground, N5098 Cedar Valley Road, Kewaunee, WI 54216.
This family-owned campground has 4000 feet of river frontage for cool water playing, and all sites have water and electric.
There is an onsite pub and grill, a store, 18 hole mini-golf, heated pool and splash pad, four playgrounds, a game room, horseshoes, and basketball courts, laundromat, dump stations, and a lot of outdoor activities for kids of all ages.

#5 Montello Granite Quarry Waterfalls
About the Falls: Located in a beautiful park in downtown Montello, these falls are in the historic Daggett Park granite quarry. The granite from this quarry was found to be the hardest in the world and used for many monuments, including Grant’s tomb.
The falls are an unusual urban location, within walking distance to shops and food, making this spot a great choice for the not-so-outdoorsy family members.

This campground has been the place of making family memories for 27 years. With a lake, heated pool, GaGa ball, volleyball, and basketball courts, and awesome playgrounds, everyone is sure to find a fun activity.
Free WiFi makes work or movies easy to access, there are pedal bike and boat rentals, and the campground is dog friendly. If you have guests, there are cabins on site too!

#6 Willow Falls
About the Falls: Willow Falls is easy to visit in Willow River State Park, just northeast of Hudson, WI. These falls are 100 feet wide, and consist of a few drops, with a total height of 45 feet.
The shortest walk to the falls is less than ¼ mile but on a very steep paved trail. You can get very close to these falls and even go behind them or wade in the cool water.

Why not camp close to the recreation? The 2,891 acre park has three campground loops, and it is one of the most visited campgrounds in the Wisconsin State Park system. The 300 park has 70 tent, trailer, or motorhome sites with flush toilets and showers, the 200 loop has 30 sites with a mix of electric and non-electric, the 100 campground has 50 sites with electric.
The 100 campground is newer and has larger sites but less shade.

#7 Amnicon Falls
About the Falls: Another Wisconsin state park falls, Aminicon is part of an 825-acre park of the same name near South Range, WI, southeast of Superior.
There are a series of waterfalls on the Amnicon River. It goes around a small island and under a covered bridge making a very picturesque location. Swimming is allowed at both the upper and lower falls.

From primitive tent sites to full hook up, this campground which is just south of Superior/Duluth is a great spot to basecamp for a variety of adventures.
