#1 Spray Falls
About the Falls: Spray Falls is located in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Its height is 70 feet and drops directly into Lake Superior. It’s too difficult to see the falls from in front of it, unless you’re in a boat.
A ¼ mile east of the falls there is a lookout point to get the side view of the falls.
Location: 46.557.5N, 86.41028W It can be seen from the Lakeshore Trail between Munising and Grand Marais inside the park.
Great Nearby Campsite: Munising Tourist Park
The campground has 127 scenic campsites, 2 bathrooms, a dump station, free WiFi and pets welcome. Prices range from $25 -$41 per site. It’s right on the shores of Lake Superior.

#2 Tahquamenon Falls
About the Falls: The Tahquamenon Falls has a drop of nearly 50 feet, with more than 200 feet across and a water flow of 50,000 gallons per second.
The falls are located in the Upper Peninsula near Lake Superior. The lower falls are four miles downstream from the upper falls. The water is a brownish color due to the sediment.
There is a hiking trail that runs alongside the water between the two falls.
Location: Upper Falls 46°34’29”N 85°15’23”W, and the lower falls 46°36’12”N 85°12’25”W. Located at Tahquamenon Falls State Park, they are between Newberry and Paradise, Luce County, Michigan.

The Tahquamenon Falls State Park is open year-round and features a few camping options, but for rigs and travel trailers the Lower Falls has two campgrounds, Hemlock and Portage, under Tahquamenon Lower Falls-Modern. Hemlock has pull through sites, ADA compliant sites and 50-amp sites.
It has vault toilets and water. Portage Campground has flush toilets and water available. Both have playgrounds and are not far from the river.

#3 Munising Falls
About the Falls: Munising Falls is a 50-foot waterfall that drops over a sandstone cliff. It is accessible by walking an 800-foot paved trail to the base of the falls. Pets are allowed.
There are two additional viewing areas. At the visitor’s center, there are exhibits, bathrooms, and information.
Location: Munising Falls Visitor Center is located at 1505 San Point Road, Munising, MI.

This KOA has a heated pool, 50 amp service, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a max length of 90 feet. It is located at E10102 State Hwy M28, Wetmore, MI 49895. Prices average $35 to $50 per night depending on hookups needed.

#4 Miners Falls
About the Falls: Miners Falls is located on the Miners River in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The falls have a 40-foot drop with a 10-foot crest. The hike into the falls is a little over half a mile through woods on a well-marked path.
Location: 46.47444N 86.53056W It is located in the Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, in Munising, MI.
Great Nearby Campsite: Try Otter Lake Campground & RV Park
It’s open May through November and has 70 sites with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits. It has bathrooms and showers, laundry, water station and dump station. Rates are between $20 and $35 per night depending on hookups.
Michigan Waterfall Vibes Score: 8.5, the waterfall has a nice turn to it at the bottom to switch directions. Unique and there might be a way to get close to the falls if you have hiking skills.
#5 Horseshoe Falls
About the Falls: Horseshoe Falls is 20 plus feet high and 5 feet wide, with another 20-foot cascade down over rocks, making for pretty pictures. It is a privately owned waterfall and has a $5 charge to see it.
It is spring-fed, meaning it could be running when others are dried up.
Location: 46.42278N 86.62139W Horseshoe Falls is located in the middle of Munising, just off M-28. There are signs to direct travelers.
Great Nearby Campsite: Bay Furnace Campground
Bay Furnace Campground in the Hiawatha National Forest has numerous rustic sites for $20 per night. There are great views of Lake Superior. Amenities include drinking water, dump station, and vault toilets. Use your America the Beautiful pass.
Michigan Waterfall Vibes Score: 7.5, being privately owned and spring fed makes it a sure bet. It will make pretty pictures.
#6 Laughing Whitefish Falls
About the Fall: Laughing Whitefish Falls is 100 feet high. It cascades over-steeped like rocks making it look like an art design.
There is a bumpy, dirt road to the bathrooms and picnic area before you take the mile-long trail that leads to the top of the falls. You can take a staircase to the bottom. Pictures will come out better on an overcast day, with muted sun.
Location: 46.38389N 87.06833W The falls are about 30 miles from Munising, off M-94.
Great Nearby Campsite: AuTrain Lake Campground
AuTrain Lake Campground is part of the national recreation system. The standard non-electric site fee is $20 – Federal Recreation passes like America the Beautiful are accepted.
There are pit toilets and drinking water, for the 37 sites, which can be reserved or first-come, first-served.

#7 Hungarian Falls
About the Falls: One part of Hungarian Falls is 20 foot drop, then another 20-footer and finally a 50 foot drop, when the falls are flowing. During dry summers, these falls might be a bust.
There are trails on both sides and a bridge crosses the creek between the upper and middle falls. There is no trail to the lower falls, but some people get there anyway.
Location: 47.3827778N 88.025W From Route 26 in Hubbell, turn west onto 6th Street and take the dirt fork to the left. Watch for the small parking area on the left.
Great Nearby Campsite: Sunset Bay Campground
Sunset Bay Campground has 11 tent sites, 23 RV/tent sites and 2 cabins. It has modern amenities including, bathhouses, laundry, dump station, 30 amp electric, and water.
Prices range from $25 for a tent site to $35 for hookups. Sewer is available on some sites for $40. Reservations are recommended.

Plan Your Trip to a Waterfall in Michigan
The top waterfalls in Michigan seem to mostly be in the same Munising/ Pictured Rocks area. Consider making it a waterfall trip and see as many as possible in a day or a weekend and make up your own top list.
Although we listed many different campgrounds, many of the waterfalls can be accessed from your favorite area campground without having to move.
The best time to see any of the falls is after a long rainy period, or in the spring and early summer for peak water flow.
