The Valley of the Sun is a top RV destination. Phoenix’s peak season is October through April. During peak season it’s best to book RV parks pretty far in advance, as there are festivals, events, tournaments and shows nearly every week that bring people from all over the world.
Phoenix is known for it’s desert sunshine, and has hot summers (especially for RV living) and mild winters.
It is the capital and most populous city in Arizona, and is divided into many neighborhood areas (called “urban villages”), each with its own vibe.

#1 Apache Palms RV Park
Price: Sites vary but average $55/ni, $335/week, $370/mo in regular season. Peak season rates are the same for nightly and weekly but go up by about $200 for monthly.
Miles to Downtown: Apache Palms is in the heart of the action in the Tempe area, the same neighborhood as Arizona State University. It’s about 15 miles to downtown Phoenix, and only 8 miles to downtown Scottsdale.
Why You’ll Love It: Great location! Due to its proximity to ASU, this location is convenient to everything imaginable. It’s also conveniently nestled between Phoenix and Scottsdale.
What’s The Word: “The sites had level concrete pads, with an adjoining spot for tows.”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: 8/10 A bit of a retro-desert vibe. Mix of full timers and visitors. This is a city RV park, in middle of the action.
#2 Mesa Spirit RV Resort
Price: Regular sites are $51/day, Premium (80’) sites are $90/day
Miles to Downtown: 25 miles to downtown Phoenix. 20 miles to downtown Scottsdale.
Why You’ll Love It: This is a huge park with 1,800 full hook-up spaces! It’s a big community with lots of happenings and amenities. And they’re more likely to have availability than some of the smaller parks.
What’s The Word: “Easy access with lots of amenities!”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: 7/10 It’s technically a 55+ park, though they’re usually welcoming to those under 55 as nightly/weekly rentals. It’s a huge park with a mix of full-timers and short term stays. Due to its size, there are lots of amenities from multiple pools to mini-golf!
#3 Twin Palms RV Park
Price: $45/day, $250/week, $650/mo (save $150/mo in Summer)
Miles to Downtown: 22 miles to downtown Phoenix, 17 miles to downtown Scottsdale
Why You’ll Love It: Mesa is home to many RV parks and has just about anything you could need from RV repair to RV supply stores, to grocery stores of all kinds, and more.
It’s a clean rock and concrete park, no desert dust here! Twin Palms is a small 15 space park that feels far more intimate than some of the large parks.
What’s The Word: “The camp hosts were very friendly and the grounds were well maintained. The restrooms and laundry room were very clean also.”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: It’s a nice small park, family vibe. The owner is the operator and he’s always on-site as his motorcycle shop is out front. Well maintained as you would expect with a small owner-operated park.
#4 Green Acres RV Park
Price: $40/night
Miles to Downtown: 16 miles to downtown Phoenix, 9 miles to downtown Scottsdale, 5 miles to downtown Tempe
Why You’ll Love It: Great location, convenient to everything. Easy access to the Light Rail to get into Tempe or Phoenix.
What’s The Word: “Small, clean, quiet no frills park. Very nice helpful staff. Great location if you want to be in the city. “
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: Green Acres is a small park, mostly full timers, a bit short on amenities. Quiet, suburban location, clean and well-kept park.
#5 Mesa Sunset RV Resort
Price: $50/night, $250/week, $550/month
Miles to Downtown: 30 miles to downtown Phoenix, 25 miles to downtown Scottsdale
Why You’ll Love It: With just under 200 sites, Mesa Sunset is big enough to have what you need, but not too big or too small. It’s on the far eastern side of the Valley, but still convenient to Costco, some hiking, and the highway.
What’s The Word: “Prices are reasonable and the facility is nice.”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: Recently under new management and nicely renovated, this park feels updated compared to many others in the area. The staff are great, and the amenities are good. You’ll feel well cared for here.
#6 McDowell Mountain Regional Park
Price: $32/night
Miles to Downtown: 44 miles to downtown Phoenix, 31 miles to downtown Scottsdale
Why You’ll Love It: This regional county park has 76 sites for RV camping. It’s located in beautiful nature and feels more like a campground than an RV park, but still has electric and water hookups with an on-site dump station.
What’s The Word: “Beautiful scenery with mountains all around and desert plants as far as the eye can see.”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: With a 14-day stay limit, the scene is always changing. Generally, it’s a family-friendly campground with active visitors who are there to take advantage of the many hiking trails in the McDowell Mountains.
#7 Canyon Vistas RV Resort
Price: $75/ni, $425/week, $1250/month
Miles to Downtown: 40 miles to downtown Phoenix, 35 miles to downtown Scottsdale
Why You’ll Love It: As the name suggests the views are amazing. Canyon Vistas is nestled at the base of the Superstition Mountains. Plus, there’s a sister resort right next door, and guests have access to both parks. Between the two, the amenities are plentiful.
What’s The Word: “Primarily a winter Snowbird Park. It is open year-round. Lots of activities, two pools with tennis courts and pickleball courts.”
Phoenix AZ RV Park Vibe: A 55 plus community, but welcoming to those under 55 as well. Feels like a nice retirement community, lots of snowbirds in winter. There’s a mix of short and long term, as you can purchase a lot here.
