7 Simple Camping Hacks for Less Than Ten Bucks

7 Simple Camping Hacks for Less Than Ten Bucks

Camping is a blast, but it can also be expensive.

Whether you’re in a tent or RV, being outdoors in some of the most beautiful places in the world is hard to beat. It can be relaxing and quiet.

But one of the downfalls is space limits what you can bring with you on your trip. That’s why these seven camping hacks will save your sanity. Not only are they super cheap but they will save space when it might be limited.

Camping Hacks Make Life Easier

When it comes to life hacks, they are typically something you didn’t think about using to get the job done. They are usually things you might already own or are really easy to find at any store. It just takes thinking outside of the box.

There is more than one way to eat a Reese’s; well there is more than one way to get a job done especially when camping.

That’s why we put together this list of 7 simple hacks for camping.

DIY Fire Starters

Did you know that you hold in your house one of the best fire starters in the world? Dryer lint.

The lint in your dryer is highly flammable and great for starting fires. If you collect it in a plastic bag every time you clean the filter, you have your very own fire starter. Another option is papers you are going to shred.

Maybe burn them instead in your fire.

Mesh Laundry Bag Dish Dryer

If you have dishes you want to dry but don’t have the space to do it, try using a mesh laundry bag. Just place the dishes in the bag and hang it outside to dry.

It keeps the dishes out of your sink or off the counters and out of the way. You can find the mesh bag at any store for cheap.

Shower Cap Food Cover

One of the worst things when eating outside are the bugs. They love to get in your food. So, a simple solution is a shower cap.

They are cheaper than buying those cages for your plates and they don’t take up so much space.

Lanyard Soap Holder

If you have the small travel soaps either for dishes or for showers the lanyard soap holder works great. You can hang them up anywhere and it helps to not lose them.

When washing dishes or yourself you can also keep it around your neck.

Pool Noodles on RV Slide Outs

A useful hack for RV slide outs is pool noodles. You cut them and place them on the edges of your slide when it’s out.

This helps prevent running into them and knocking yourself out. This is an easy hack that could literally save lives.

Shower Caps for Dirty Shoes

Another use for shower caps is for dirty shoes.

One of the worst things is tracking in dirt from outside and it gets everywhere. But as you walk in place your shoes in the shower caps and prevent tracking. Just make sure you’re not using the same caps you use on your food.

Shoe Organizers for Storage

The last hack is to use shoe organizers for storage.

They come in all sizes and can be found for pretty cheap. You can put them in your storage compartments or closet and use it to help create a cleaner storage space. You can organize in them and stack things on top of each other easily.

Get Crafty When You’re Camping

Taking advantage of these seven camping hacks will change how you camp forever. Not only do they make the experience better but they won’t break the bank and they save on space.

Maybe some of these ideas will help spark other ideas on ways to save on other hacks.

    Great article. Thanks

Have another hack for you. Pool noodles work great to seal up vents when putting RV in storage.
I cut wedges approx. 1/4″ longer than the slots in my refrigerator vents and push them into the slots to keep dust and bugs out. Various sizes and shapes can be cut for water heater, fan and furnace vents as well. That way I don’t have to us any tape which can leave hard to remove residue. And yes I have pieces cut for my bedroom slide. I don’t have any pictures and RV is on our other property 300 miles away.
Really enjoy your site, never too old to learn something new. We have RV’d for many years from back of horse trailer, pickup shell to tents to the current Solitude we own, the old bones just can’t handle an air mattress any more. We will be retiring in a year or so and want to part time for extended periods.
Keep up the great posts, safe travels and stay well.

I didn’t understand the soap lanyard one. How do you attach a bar of hotel soap to a lanyard?

  4. Kyle & Olivia Brady says:

Many lanyards have pockets for name info. If it’s that version, you can stick the soap in the pocket

  5. Backcountry164 says:

Skip the dryer lint if you’ve got pets…
