5 Best Teardrop Campers in 2021

Teardrop campers are all the rage right now. And for good reason.

Today we’re featuring the best RV teardrops on the market in 2021.

What is a Teardrop Camper?

When you’re driving down the road, teardrop campers are easy to spot because of their unique shape. They look like, well, a teardrop!

These towable RVs come in a range of sizes with varying amenities. Often, they have a more vintage or retro look and they sometimes have bright, popping exterior colors.

They offer greater portability than a small travel trailer and hard-sides, unlike a pop up camper.

How Much do Teardrop Campers Weigh?

Teardrop campers are very popular because of their light weight. This means small trucks, SUVs, and even some cars can tow them.

Typically, the dry weight comes in at under 4,000 pounds for a teardrop camper, but many are even lighter!

You can find a Kia, Subaru, and even Hyundai that can tow them.

How Much do Teardrop Campers Cost?

Teardrop campers come at almost any price tag. You can get a trailer for as little as $5,000 or as much as $40,000 or more.

The cost depends on how big of a trailer you want and what amenities you would like it to have. For example, some teardrop campers are basically just a bedroom whereas others have a bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.

5 Best Teardrop Campers for 2021

If you’re looking for a teardrop camper, 2021 will not disappoint. Here are our top choices for teardrop campers you’ll want to check out this year!

Little Guy Max

The Little Guy Max is an incredibly lightweight trailer with a starting weight of just 3,010 pounds and a length of 21 feet. The retail price of this teardrop camper is just under $40,000. An SUV can tow it but it still has an amazing interior.

It has a 6’7” interior height to give you plenty of headroom. You’ll love the maple hardwood cabinets that provide tons of storage space. This camper has a queen-size bed with a television in the bedroom. The cozy kitchen has a residential-style sink and a glass top stove with two burners. There is also a fridge, microwave, and dinette. The Little Guy Max also features a full wet bath with a residential shower and a marine style toilet to make the most of the space.

You can stay cozy on even the coldest nights with a 16,000 BTU furnace and comfortably cool in the summer with the 13,500 BTU air conditioner mounted on the roof. There is even the option to add an awning!

With all the features jam-packed into this teardrop camper, it is hard to believe how small and light it really is.

Polydrop Camper Trailer

The Polydrop camper trailer lets you take on the rugged terrain while sleeping in modern luxury. This teardrop camper has an exterior length of 12.9 feet and weighs between 900 and 1150 pounds. The prices range from $13,995 to $19,495.

They designed it with off-grid living in mind. The Polydrop is fully equipped with a road shower, solar panels, a solar-powered Dometic drawer fridge, an outdoor kitchenette, and it even has an optional lift kit. If you want to go where no one has gone before, you can do it with the Polydrop.

It sleeps two and has roof ventilation, gull-wing doors, and plenty of storage space. The exterior features include a lightweight aluminum frame, 13-inch wheels, hydraulic disc brakes, independent suspension, and expanded polystyrene foam insulation for maximum warmth even in extreme temperatures.

Oregon Trail’r FronTear

Another great teardrop camper option is the Oregon Trail’r FronTear. This lightweight camper, with an exterior length of 8 feet, can be towed by most cars and starts at just $14,000. There are many options for customization to get exactly what you want for your needs at a price tag you can afford. The exact weight will depend on your configuration, but they usually weigh around 1,100 pounds with a high-end weight of 1,400 pounds or more.

The Oregon Trail’R company is a small company that hand-builds all trailers, so it’ll take between 6-7 months on average for your trailer to be ready after ordering. Standard features include an outdoor kitchenette and a bed that sleeps two. Inside are several cabinets and a skylight window for added light. There is a small TV as well.

The FronTear is built to last with a square tube steel chassis with a black finish and lightweight wood walls.

14’ iCamp Elite

Next up is the iCamp Elite. This fun camper with a pop of color and a retro appearance is anything but retro in design. The exterior is fully laminated with fiberglass skin and it has aluminum tubing reinforcement for the body.

The interior includes solid wood furniture with a curved design to maximize space. Although it is small, it comes with a fully equipped bathroom and an interior height of 5’11”. There is also the option to add an audio-video system, air conditioner, and heater.

Another thing we love about this teardrop camper is the fact that it has an inside kitchen including a stove, oven, sink, and refrigerator. There is also a ton of overhead cabinet space in the bedroom that sleeps 2. And you can even convert the bed to a dinette for eating or working at.

With all these features, it is hard to believe the iCamp Elite weighs only 2,366 pounds. And it costs under $20,000.

The Meaner Bean

If you’re looking for an off-road teardrop camper, the Meaner Bean is another great choice! It comes with independent suspension, has 17 inches of ground clearance, and weighs only 2,000 pounds.

This teardrop has it all. The cabin comes with a queen bed (and an optional bunk for small children), stained wood interior walls, an insulated ceiling, and plenty of storage space. It has a 100-amp deep cycle AGM battery, power converter, solar power port, and option to connect to shore power so you have plenty of options for power both on and off the grid.

There is an outdoor kitchen with a cooktop and cooling unit for your favorite foods. You can eat outside or sit at the indoor table for dinner. It has a heavy-duty exterior with a one-piece fiberglass shell and gel coat finish. There is also a storage rack at the front, side entry doors, and 2 large windows you can open up for a breeze.

All this comes with the Meander Bean for a starting price of only $20,950.

Teardrop Trailers Are A Great Way to Travel

Teardrop trailers are a popular choice for weekend warriors and people who want more flexibility. A teardrop can go places a more traditional RV can’t.

You can travel down almost any road and bring all the modern conveniences with you. If you’re looking for a small camper that you can tow with the vehicle you already have, a teardrop trailer is the way to go!

We researched and researched and finally it came down to the Little Guy Max and the T@b 400 boondocker and we decided on the T@b. We just picked it up two days ago. For now we are getting familiar with it in our drive (where it will be stored with it’s cover, so it is fully winterized. We know the partnership of the original Pleasant Valley Little Guy dissolved and T@b is manufactured now by Pleasant Valley. What are your thoughts on the T@b? We are loving it thus far and the quality seems great. It also was the only one we could find, new, anywhere near us here in St Louis. Love your blog and wealth of info. Thank you!! Marsha
