Revealed: Unlimited Internet for RV Camping
One of the hardest things about RVing is the lack of internet coverage.
If you haven’t had internet connection issues, you either haven’t traveled extensively or you are the luckiest person in the world.
Seriously, tell us your secrets! Because, in our experience, park Wi-Fi is incredibly slow and hardly reliable. And even hotspots can be questionable at times. Plus, hotspots often have low data limits and throttle your speeds after a certain point.
Given how many people have become digital nomads, reliable internet is a necessity. The lack of internet options scares some people away from full-timing, especially if you need to work from the road. Luckily, a better option is in the works: Starlink Internet from SpaceX.
Although Starlink Internet is still in development, they expect it to be widely available soon. Keep reading to find out what we know and when we’ll know more.
What is SpaceX?
SpaceX was founded in 2002 by none other than Elon Musk. SpaceX designs and launches a wide variety of rockets and spacecraft.
One of their most recent endeavors is Starlink Internet.
So… What is Starlink Internet?
Starlink is a plan to build an inter-connected internet network with thousands of satellites being launched into orbit. Essentially, the plan is world-wide unlimited internet. Can you imagine?!
Even in the most remote areas and national parks, being able to be connected. This will open up a whole new world for RV campers and remote workers!
Starlink Internet Beta
Starlink Internet is currently still in the beta testing phases.
Their ‘Better Than Nothing’ Beta program offers broadband internet using low orbit satellites. Over the past year or so, Starlink has been launching thousands of satellites to create the network.
Starlink Internet offers high-speed internet access in places that previously had limited, extremely expensive, or no connection. This is huge, not only for RVers, but for people who live in remote areas as well.
Who Has Access Now?
Starlink Internet is available only in the northern states and Canada currently. There are plans to expand to provide global coverage of the populated world by the end of 2021.
Starlink Satellite Internet Pricing
As an RVer, the thought of reliable internet available anywhere you want to go is amazing. But just how much is such an incredible option going to cost?
Surprisingly, it isn’t as much as you might expect. Especially considering that it is unlimited!
Starlink Internet has an initial fee of $499 for the router, satellite dish, and tripod. You will need these items to connect to the Starlink satellites. But, the good news is you can take them with you wherever you go. As of this writing, there is a monthly fee of just $99 after that.
When Will We Know More?
Starlink satellites have been launching since May 2019 and beta testing officially began in late 2020. They are now predicting almost global coverage by 2021.
You can expect to hear more about Starlink availability in the next few months. Customers in the southern United States may be able to enroll in the program as early as the first quarter of 2021.

I would much rather have satellite cell phone coverage everywhere. With that I can have internet everywhere. And I mean one that works on a normal sized smartphone, not those bulky sat phones with the big antenna.
