What is a Winnebago Van? 

The short answer is, a Winnebago Van is a Class B RV manufactured by an iconic American brand. 

Winnebago’s Camper Van line consists of gas and diesel models. As Winnebago says, their vans offer more for less. What’s less? Maybe their size and gas mileage, as well as a lower price tag than larger RVs.

But what’s more, is their innovation and efficiency. 

Winnebago has built their vans with the comforts of home and the ability to get to faraway places. Not to mention, the technology and safety features on the camper vans are top of the line.

How Much is a Winnebago Van? 

A Winnebago Van’s base price runs from $108,000 to $218,000 MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price).

Of course, costs vary depending on the number of features you add on. Additionally, all new vans come with a warranty. 

Benefits of a Camper Van

A camper van gives you the ability to take your home off the beaten path in the great outdoors. Given the size of a van, parking and boondocking in hard-to-reach places becomes more accessible than with larger RVs.

The gas mileage on a van is also a budget saver for RVers. 

In addition, a van is easy to drive. So, some people equate it to driving a minivan. Thus a camper van is beneficial for a quick weekend trip or long drive days. 

Winnebago Camper Van Models

Winnebago has five 2021 camper van models on the market. Below you’ll find a summary and key features for each. 

Winnebago Solis

The Winnebago Solis is a gas camper van that can sleep four people. It has two-floor plans, the 59P, and 59PX. The 59P is 19’9” long – bumper to bumper. While the 59PX is 21’ long, adding some gear space in the back. 

Both floorplans have a murphy bed in the rear and a 31” by 24” wet bath. They also have flexible seating in the front for during transit, dining, working, or lounging. Furthermore, the Solis is equipped with a 21-gallon freshwater tank and a 20-gallon gray water tank.

It has a cassette toilet with a capacity of 5 gallons. And the water heater capacity is 2.6 gallons.

One of the key features of the Solis is the optional rooftop extension (pop-top). This is a 52” by 79” fiberglass top on the van that pops up with a bed for two. It also comes with a 170-watt solar panel on the roof of the pop-top. On the other hand, if you opt-out of the pop-top, you’ll get a 220-watt solar panel.

The Winnebago Solis has a Ram ProMaster® 280-hp chassis with a 3.6L V6 gas engine. It has a 6-speed automatic 62TE transmission, 180-amp alternator. The trailer hitch weight is 3,500 pounds with 350 pounds maximum tongue weight.

Winnebago Revel

The Winnebago Revel is a diesel camper van that sleeps two people. This Winnebago van is made for outback adventures. It’s built on a Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter chassis with a 3-liter turbo diesel engine and on-demand 4 wheel drive. Also, its hitch weight is 5,000 pounds with a 500-pound maximum tongue weight. 

The Revel is 19’7” long and loaded with features. In the rear, you’ll find a power lift bed with garage storage below. The wet bath doubles as a gear closet and has a bi-fold door. Unquestionably, a key feature in the kitchen is an induction cooktop stored in a drawer for additional space-saving.

There’s also a kitchen counter extension and an outdoor fold-down table.

If you’re exploring off the beaten path, you want your home on wheels to be easy to clean. As a result, the Revel comes with heavy-duty vinyl flooring and reverse cove molding at the cabinet bases. And the cabinets have positive latching slam latches in case you hit rough roads.

The Winnebago Revel has a 21-gallon freshwater tank and a 21-gallon gray water tank. It also has a cassette toilet with a capacity of 5 gallons. In addition, the water heater is continuous with no capacity limit.

Winnebago Travato

The Winnebago Travato is a gas camper van that sleeps two people. This Winnebago van is a top seller and has four floorplans: 59G, 59GL, 59K, and 59KL. Each is 21’ long – bumper to bumper. However, the main differences between the G/GL and K/KL versions are the beds and bath. The bed is 49” by 77” in the rear, as is the wet bath, in the 59G and 59GL floorplans.

On the other hand, the 59K and 59KL floorplans have two twin beds and a wet bath with a wardrobe in the rear of the van.

A key feature of the Travato 59GL and 59 KL is the Pure Advanced Energy System. The system gives you extended boondocking capabilities. It provides up to 9,600 watt-hours of power and 12,800 watt-hours with the optional 4-module energy pack.

The Travato also has an all-season roof and sidewall insulation as well as honeycomb composite insulated flooring. Its dual-pane acrylic insulated windows also help keep in the cold. Additionally, it has above-floor water lines and heated tanks.

The freshwater tank holds 18 gallons, and the gray water tank holds 12-14 gallons, depending on the floorplan. And the Travato has a black tank that holds 11 gallons on the 59G/GL and 12 gallons on the 59K/KL. The water heater capacity is 2.6 gallons.

Winnebago Boldt

The Winnebago Boldt is a diesel camper van that can sleep two people. It’s the highest-priced Winnebago van model due to its space and carrying capacity. The Boldt has two floorplans – the 70BL and 70KL – and both are 22’11” long. 

Each floorplan has two twin beds that can convert into one larger bed. The 70KL has a larger wet bath than the 70BL. Both have ample storage space and flexible living space. 

The Winnebago Boldt’s features make it one of the most comfortable of the camper van models listed here. It’s all-season ready and comes with the Pure Advanced Energy System.

The Boldt also has the largest tank capacity. Its freshwater tank holds 21 gallons, and the water heater holds 2.6 gallons. The gray tank on the 70BL holds 26 gallons and the black tank holds 24 gallons. In contrast, the 70KL has a gray tank capacity of 25 gallons and a black tank capacity of 16 gallons.

The Boldt has a Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter Chassis with a 3.0L 6-cylinder, 188hp turbo-diesel engine. Its hitch weight is 5,000 pounds with a 500-pound maximum tongue weight.

Winnebago Era

The Winnebago Era is a diesel camper van that can sleep two people. This van is made for on and off-road enjoyment. It has three floorplans: 70A, 70B, and 70X. Each floorplan is 24’3” in length from bumper to bumper, therefore, making this model the longest Winnebago van model.

All three floorplans have a fully equipped kitchen with Corian® countertops. The 70A floorplan has two twin beds in the rear that can be converted into one bed. It has a wet bath with bi-fold doors and a 36” by 66” sofa bed behind the cab.

In addition, the 70B floorplan has a 70” by 77” sofa bed in the rear and ample seating throughout. Its wet bath has bi-fold doors, and there’s ample kitchen counter space. The 70X floorplan is similar to the 70B, but you lose a little kitchen counter space to have an extra seat behind the cab.

Each floorplan has a freshwater capacity of 25 gallons and a water heater capacity of 2.6 gallons. The 70A has a 26-gallon gray water tank and an 8-gallon black tank. Both the 70B and 70X have a 19-gallon gray water tank and a 9-gallon black tank.

The Era has a Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter Chassis with a 3.0L 6-cylinder, 188hp turbo-diesel engine. Its hitch weight is 5,000 pounds with a 500-pound maximum tongue weight.
