We’re throwing back the curtains today and giving you an inside look at just how much money our last 10 YouTube videos made.

What Is an RV YouTuber?
An RV YouTuber is a YouTube video creator for videos specifically about the RV lifestyle. We have been RV YouTubers since January of 2016 and it has been a truly wild ride.
Our Drivin’ and Vibin’ YouTube channel has accumulated over 15 million views in the last 5 years, but it hasn’t always been easy.
While it might seem like YouTubing or RV life are always easy and perfect, the reality is much different.
How Do RV YouTubers Make Money?
Content creators on YouTube make money primarily through the placement of ads before, during, and after their videos.
In order to qualify for ad placement on videos, a YouTube channel must have over 1,000 subscribers and generate a minimum of 4,000 hours of video watch-time over a 12 month period.
In addition to watch-time and subscriber requirements, YouTubers also have to make sure all of their content adheres to YouTube guidelines.
Other ways RV YouTubers make money include through sponsorships, and selling merchandise.
Being a YouTuber Can Be a Full Time Job
Being a YouTuber can easily be a full-time job… with overtime!
Most people don’t realize the amount of work that goes into creating great YouTube content. First, there’s learning how to film in an entertaining and creative way. Then, YouTubers have to learn how to edit their videos and add music and other entertaining features.
Filming takes time and money in the form of education and equipment, but the most time consuming part of being a YouTuber is editing video.
Every YouTuber is different and everyone works at a different pace. A 5 minute YouTube video can easily take 2 hours or longer to edit and prepare for publishing.
Here’s the good thing – most smartphones can be used to record, edit and upload a video all from one device.

When YouTube is a part of your business, you have to constantly come up with entertaining and creative video ideas. Content creators can easily become burnt out from trying to be creative all the time!

We had to change the way we made videos over the last 6 years. Video creation began consuming our travels. And that totally defeated the purpose of why we hit the road, to begin with.
Can You Make a Full Time Income Off Of YouTube Alone?
Yes, YouTube content creators can make a full-time income off of YouTube alone, but it’s generally not recommended. First, it takes a lot of time and hard work to make a substantial income off of YouTube.
Second, if YouTube is your only source of income and they decide to ban your channel, you’d be completely out of luck!
Most YouTubers have a variety of income sources like brand partnerships, sponsorships, blogs, and some even have jobs.
How Long Does it Take To Start Making Money on YouTube?
How long it takes to start making money on YouTube entirely depends upon how quickly you can get to 1,000 subscribers and over 4,000 hours of watch time.
Creating content that gets views on YouTube isn’t a walk in the park! YouTubers have to learn digital marketing skills to create the right kind of videos that will generate views and subscribers.
For some people, monetization on YouTube can happen in just a couple of months. For others, it could take years.

Our YouTube channel has over 120k subscribers. We started YouTube in January of 2016 and have over 15 million views in that time period.
RV With Tito DIY
RV With Tito DIY has over 101k subscribers. Brian published the first RV With Tito YouTube Video in January of 2011! This channel has amassed over 11 million views in the past 10 years.
Less Junk More Journey
Marissa and Nathan of Less Junk, More Journey have been YouTubers since November of 2015. Their channel has over 176k subscribers and over 35 million views over the past 6 years.
Fate Unbound
David and Roe of Fate Unbound have over 129k subscribers. Their very first YouTube video was published in April of 2017 and in that time they have generated over 15 million views.
Mortons On The Move:
Our friends Tom and Cait published their first YouTube video in May of 2015. Their channel has over 101k subscribers and they’ve generated over 14 million views in the last six years.
Getaway Couple:
Our friends Rae and Jason have over 65k subscribers on their channel, Getaway Couple. They uploaded their first video in September of 2017 and have generated over 7 million views since that date.
Nomadic Fanatic:
Eric of Nomadic Fanatic has over 227k subscribers on his YouTube channel. Eric started YouTubing in December of 2013 and since then, his videos have generated over 89 million views.
Keep Your Daydream:
Marc and Tricia of Keep Your Daydream started their YouTube channel in July of 2015. Since then, they’ve grown to over 444k subscribers and amassed over 65 million video views.

You can see, that’s not a lot of money. Especially when you consider the time involved.
However, we create videos for fun (and when time allows). If we put more effort into it, I’m sure the revenue would be higher. Nevertheless, we’re happy with the place YouTube exists in our life these days.

Is being a YouTube creator all it’s cracked up to be? There’s no doubt about the fact that having a YouTube channel takes a lot of work.
And sometimes it takes the same amount of work as a full-time job, but without any money to show for it!

Hi there! You guys are doing a great job with your videos and I think everyone should be surprised at how little all that hard work generates..
I know just how hard it is to create an interesting video and I just don’t have the patients it would take if money were my only reason for creating and posting..
I think these days to really make it big time will take a very specialized approach with some kind of niche that others just don’t have (or can’t have) to add to the content.. Another prime example is Russ with his RVerTV channel..
Every video he creates has substantial drone footage of the areas.. Also he is very specific with the areas his content is about.. His “niche” works for him and yours works for you guys!
