Let’s get roasting!

What Is Starbucks?

Starbucks is a coffee company that began in 1971 in Seattle’s historic Pike Place. In the early 1980s, Howard Schultz began working with the company and purchased it from the original owners. Today, Starbucks is the most famous coffee shop in the world.

It focuses on crafting the perfect cup of coffee. It ensures that from the farm where the coffee beans are grown to the drink you get over the corner, you’re receiving the highest quality product.

What Is Starbucks Famous For?

Starbucks is famous for being an integral part of the coffee shop movement. Getting your coffee outside your home was revolutionary and became one of America’s past times. You can get a beverage at Starbucks and meet with friends in a cozy location, work on your laptop at a table, read while lounging in the store, or get a drink to go.

The Vanilla Latte is the most popular drink at Starbucks. It contains vanilla syrup, espresso, steamed milk, and foam on top.

The recipe calls for one shot of espresso for a Tall size and two for a Grande and Venti. And there are three pumps of vanilla for a Tall and two for a Grande and Venti.

You can also customize the drink with additional espresso, extra syrup, or without foam. You can also ask for it as a French vanilla latte, which adds hazelnut syrup.

7 Secrets of Starbucks

Are you ready to learn seven secrets you likely didn’t know about Starbucks? Let’s take a look!

1. Starbucks Uses Four Templates for Their Store Designs

Starbucks has a consistent feel in its locations around the world. It uses four design templates, and each coffee shop has one of the four. The template chosen depends on the neighborhood, as they strive for the perfect fit for the area.

The templates include Heritage, Artisan, Regional Modern, and Concept. Heritage reflects the original Starbucks in Seattle. The Artisan template has an urban, industrial vibe. Regional Modern is a trendy style that’s comfortable and welcoming, and the Concept is a beautiful, high-quality look.

2. Your Dog Can Get a Drink

Did you know Starbucks is dog-friendly? You can get a drink for your fur baby. It’s called the Puppachino, and it’s free. But it’s not on the menu, so if you want to order it, you simply have to ask. However, it is up to the manager whether or not they’ll make it.

3. Employees’ Apron Colors Mean Something

You’re sure to notice that employees at Starbucks wear aprons. When you think of Starbucks, the green aprons are the most common. But sometimes, they have a hidden meaning.

If an employee has a patch on their apron, that also means something. For example, military personnel has a particular patch.

The black aprons are reserved for coffee masters. And, the purple aprons are rare, because they’re for the EMEA Barista Championship winners. The competition crowns the Starbucks employee who can make the best creations, coffee art, and coffee pairing.

In addition, you may have seen red aprons. Employees wear these during the holiday season.

4. The Trenta Is a Secret Extra Large Size Cup

Guess what? There’s a secret cup size! A Trenta is the next size up from a Venti. It’s an extra large cup that’s 31 ounces. You can fit a bottle of wine in the Trenta. But you can only order it with certain drinks, iced tea, iced coffee, and refreshers.

There’s also an extra small size, but it’s not much of a secret. It’s one size below the Tall, and it’s 8 ounces. Starbucks only uses it for hot drinks.

5. Starbucks Failed in One Country

The mega company actually failed in one country – Israel. Six Starbucks stores opened in Televiv in 2001. However, they only lasted two years.

The coffee shop didn’t fit the Israeli vibe, and the company didn’t form partnerships before coming in.

6. Starbucks Owns Seattle’s Best Coffee

Seattle’s Best Coffee is the second largest coffee wholesaler in the U.S. But, surprise, it’s second to Starbucks and owned by Starbucks. So, to say that Starbucks has a strong hold on the coffee industry in the U.S. isn’t an understatement.

Starbucks also owns other brands, including Teavana and Evolution Fresh.

7. There Was a Milk Foam Lawsuit Against Starbucks

Starbucks had class action lawsuits filed against them. The argument was that customers weren’t getting full cups of beverages. They also said that the milk foam took up too much space and counted toward the size.

The lawsuits went nowhere, as there was not enough evidence.

Is Starbucks Worth It?

Starbucks is worth it. Its good coffee and comfortable atmosphere is a cultural statement that one grows accustomed to. And if you’re not a coffee drinker, it has tea, hot chocolate, and more.

Starbucks is a brand that touts high-quality products and services. Whether you’re in Tennessee or England, you can walk into a Starbucks and know what to expect.
