Are Walmart Tires Good?

You can walk out of Walmart with a variety of things that fill your shopping cart. In addition to getting your weekly groceries, you could also have a new outfit, a TV, and maybe even a new set of Walmart tires for your car. Tires play an important role in keeping you and your vehicle rolling down the road.

So are Walmart tires a good idea? Can you trust them to keep you and your loved ones safe? Let’s look and see!

Does Walmart Sell Tires?

Of the nearly 5,000 Walmart locations in the United States, approximately 2400 have Auto Care Centers selling Walmart tires. However, if you live near one of the locations without an Auto Care Center, you can still get your tires through Walmart.

You can purchase your tires online and send them to your local store or directly to your home. You’ll have to install them yourself or find a mechanic or auto shop to install them for you. This can also be helpful if you find your local store doesn’t have the specific tire or type of tire you want for your vehicle.

What Brands of Tires Does Walmart Sell?

Because they want to offer something for every price range, they sell different types of tires from various manufacturers. Some of the brands you’ve heard of, and some you haven’t.

You’ll find common tire brands like Goodyear, Michelin, and Cooper. However, Douglas tires are a brand that’s exclusive to Walmart. But, if you look below the surface, you’ll find that Douglas is one of the trademarks under the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company umbrella. It’s simply the company’s attempt to offer a budget-friendly item without devaluing the cost of their higher-end tires.

Are Walmart Tires Good?

Douglas tires are budget-friendly tires and are nothing special. They’ll get the job done under most circumstances, especially if you’re looking for something to put on a vehicle you use for daily driving to and from work. However, you’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting the quietest, smoothest, and maximum traction or performance.

Many of the Douglas tires come with a minimal 45,000-mile rating. It won’t cost you twice as much to find a comparable tire that’s good for twice as many miles.

If you’re looking for a quick fix to get you back on the road or to sell your vehicle, a set of Douglas tires will do the job. However, if you have a more long-term perspective, Walmart tires may not be a wise choice.

How Much Does 4 New Tires Cost at Walmart?

Walmart tires under the Douglas brand at our local Walmart range from $55 to $124 per tire. That means $220 to $496 before taxes and any fees for installing or disposing of your old tires.

While you may like the sound of $55 per tire, tires aren’t universal. You must confirm the tire size and codes specific to your vehicle. One of the best ways to do this is to go out to your vehicle, write down the numbers on your tires, and make sure any tires you’re considering match.

Are Tires Cheaper at Sam’s Club or Walmart?

While Sam’s Club and Walmart are part of the same overall branding, Walmart typically offers tires for cheaper. However, Sam’s Club offers a more extensive selection of higher-end tires.

The Hankook Dynapro AT2 is an all-terrain and light truck tire that both Walmart and Sam’s Club sell. However, at our local store, it’s $30 cheaper per tire if you purchase it through Walmart, which means a $120 savings on four tires. Sam’s Club also charges $20 per tire for installation, which is $5 more than Walmart’s standard installation.

Will Walmart Install Tires You Bring In?

If you didn’t purchase your tires directly from Walmart, you can bring them in and they’ll install them for you. However, they’re not going to do it for free. They typically charge $15 to install a tire you purchase from them and a $10 additional fee for any tires you didn’t buy there.

Walmart’s prices are typically very reasonably priced, which means you better have gotten a good deal elsewhere if you want to pay a premium price for them to install them.

Is It Worth Getting Walmart Tires?

Getting your tires from Walmart can be a great way to save a few bucks on your tires. However, you want to make sure to do your research, especially if you’re buying them off the shelf. The stores typically have cheaper tires that they know they can sell quickly.

You can search their online inventory if you’re looking for a specific or more expensive tire for your vehicle and have them sent directly to the store. They’ll call you when they arrive, and you can drive over for them to install it. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to get new shoes for your vehicle for the time being, Walmart tires can be a great option and one worth considering.
