Thor RVs to Add SpaceX’s Starlink in 2023

This week THOR Industries announced it has entered into an agreement with SpaceX’s Starlink to integrate flat high-performance Starlinks into select RVs in the United States across the THOR family of companies in 2023.

We see this as possibly the largest tech advancement in RVs this year. It will mean you can receive internet virtually anywhere.

However, the Starlink devices aren’t going to be included in all of Thor RVs.

Read on for the details.

SpaceX’s Starlink is a satellite internet service provided by SpaceX, a private American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation services company founded by Elon Musk. The service uses a network of thousands of small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) to provide broadband internet access to remote and underserved areas.

The goal of Starlink is to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access to people around the world, including in areas where traditional internet infrastructure is either non-existent or unreliable.

What RVs Will Get a Starlink?

Flat high-performance Starlinks will initially be available as optional equipment in select motorized RVs manufactured by four THOR companies: Airstream, Entegra Coach, Jayco, and Tiffin. All factory-installed, high-performance Starlinks will be eligible for a one-month service credit after the initial month of activation.

“This agreement is a big step toward providing constant internet connection for RVers everywhere,” said THOR Industries President and CEO Bob Martin. “Whether for work, staying in touch with family and friends, or streaming entertainment, a reliable internet connection is a must-have for today’s RVer. Starlink will help THOR elevate our RV owners’ experiences and create yet another important point of differentiation for the THOR family of companies.”

About Thor Industries

Thor Industries is one of the most successful companies in the RV industry. In 1980, Wade Thompson and Peter Orthwein purchased Airstream and began Thor Industries. Since then, the company has continued to grow through acquisitions.

Dozens of brands are now part of the family, including RV manufacturers and companies specializing in RV accessories. Their brands in North America and Europe have created the world’s largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles.

What RV Brands Does Thor Own?

You may recognize several big names under their umbrella. As already mentioned, Airstream, Keystone, and Tiffin are all part of Thor Industries. Other well-known brands include Jayco, Heartland, Dutchmen, Entegra, and DRV.

Say Good Bye to RV Cell Boosters

An RV cell booster is a device that amplifies the cellular signal for a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, in order to improve the strength of the signal and increase the quality of the connection.

It works by taking in the weak cellular signal, amplifying it, and then broadcasting the stronger signal to the mobile device. RV cell boosters are used in recreational vehicles (RVs) and other vehicles that travel to remote or rural areas where cell service may be weaker or unavailable. They allow users to maintain a stable and strong cellular connection while on the move.

With SpaceX Starlink, all of that RV cell boosting becomes irrelevant.
