13 RV Boondocking Spots You Must See to Believe!

You’ve heard the stories about free RV boondocking sites…but, are they really that amazing?!

Heck, yea đŸ€˜

Today we’re crowd sourcing 13 of the most epic RV camping sites that are absolutely free. We’ll include the GPS links if the campers were kind enough to provide them! Thanks to all you Twitter & Instagram folks using the #boondocking hash tag.

Let’s dive in:

1. Sedona, Arizona

Here’s a tweet from Fate Unbound at an undisclosed camping spot in Sedona. Even though they didn’t share the info in the post, we have a little insight on an amazing boondocking site nearby!

2. Indian Bread Rocks

Even though this Twitter user didn’t share the boondocking deets – we know this site well. Indian Bread Rocks is a rural site new the Arizona/New Mexico Border.

3. Casino Camping

Sometimes a parking lot is all you need for a good time! These campers even scored a rainbow. With luck like that, I hope they rolled the dice!

4. Baja California, Mexico

RVers love going to Baja! It’s a great way to experience the Mexican culture and feel more secure while traveling across the border. Even though we don’t have GPS for this site, we hear there’s a ton of beach front boondocking.

5. Badlands, South Dakota

This is one of our favorite boondocking spots of all time! Rootless Mag obviously thinks so too! The official name for this spot is Nomad View. The views are perfect!

6. Alabama Hills, California

This other-worldly destination serves up many free camping sites. The Alabama Hills are located in eastern California and won’t disappoint.

7. Tampa, Florida

It’s true – Florida does have free camping! This site is located just north of Tampa at Cyprus Creek Preserve. There’s a 6 day limit and its well worth using all the days possible!

8. Arizona, USA

The Airstream Life is teasing us with this photo. The only location hint they give is “Arizona.” Given the ample boondocking sites in the state, this photo could be anywhere!

Fortunately, we have a list of the best free camping spots in the state of AZ.

9. Texas Gulf Coast

The Texas Gulf Coast is a winter hot spot for RVers…and you can see why. Many free camping spots allow you to get on the beach and camp feet away from the water. Here’s the deets to Padre Island Free Camping.

10. Borrego Springs, California

Located in (very) southern California, Borrego Springs is ideal for ATVs and off road riding. Nearby you can explore the Salton Sea & Slab City.

11. Lake Mead, Nevada

Lake Mead is a great place for free camping. If you like water sports, you’ll love this spot.

12. Extraterrestrial Highway, Nevada

Do you love the X Files…or at least hope to see a UFO during your RV travels? Check out the Extraterrestrial Highway. Here’s a complete Area 51 Camping Guide for your alien hunters!

13. Lake Havasu, Arizona

Lake Havasu had so much free camping…and they have the London Bridge! We love Craggy Wash boondocking site in Havasu. The site in the picture isn’t specified, but you can’t go wrong anywhere in the city.
