If you’ve ever experienced anything related to Disney, you know everything they touch is over the top. They go above and beyond to create a memorable occasion.
This luxury resort celebrates Halloween every night in October. The annual golf cart parade allows you to cruise the park in style. These miniature vehicles magically transform into pirate ships, monorails, and Star Wars vehicles.
Additionally, the Return to Sleepy Hollow event is one that many enjoy. You’ll watch The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at the nearby stables and await the appearance of the Headless Horseman.

#3 Hagerstown/Antietam Battlefield KOA Holiday, Maryland
KOA Resorts is another well-known chain. They offer a premium camping experience and plenty of activities to entertain everyone. They provide family-friendly amenities like a jump pad, playground, outdoor theater, and swimming pool throughout the year. But their themed weekends are some of their most popular.
From the end of September until the end of October, their weekend events are Halloween-themed. Campers of all ages will love the magic show, train rides, and autumnal crafts. While there’s no wrong time to make a reservation at Inn Town Campground, October weekends are some of the best. They celebrate this fun holiday for the entire month. Workers transform walkways and common areas with decorations and invite guests to participate. You might find yourself setting up a spooky booby trap to catch your fellow campers off-guard.

#5 Land-O-Pines Family Campground, Louisiana
Just outside of the Big Easy of New Orleans is Covington, Louisiana. The Land-O-Pines Family Campground has over 200 campsites, combining standard and full hookup sites. But their most popular amenities include multiple swimming pools, an 18-hole mini golf course, and fishing ponds. In addition, they host various events and themed weekends throughout the year.
The owners kick off the season with a pumpkin patch at the end of September. It includes kiddie bingo, a wiener roast, and a craft workshop. There’s also a pumpkin patch to visit and a trunk-or-treating contest that costs a small per-child fee.
Throughout the rest of the month, they have other kid-friendly events. Stranger Things and Star Wars Halloween weekends are both popular. Activities follow the theme, including finding the hidden Yoda and Demogorgon.
The highlight of the season is their Halloween weekend celebration. They bring in a band, have a pumpkin contest, and encourage campers to transform spots into haunted campsites. As you can imagine, this is a busy weekend. Plan ahead of time to snag a reservation.
#6 Midway Campground Resort, North Carolina
Midway Campground Resort is about an hour north of Charlotte, North Carolina. This family-owned and operated facility has been in business for over 40 years. It’s a gated community with an Olympic-sized pool, a fishing pond, and many planned activities. Whether you’re looking for a tent or RV site, more than 80 options are available.
While many family Halloween camping experiences are great for all ages, this one is only for older kids. By all accounts, Midway Wicked Woods is terrifying. You climb aboard a wagon and get transported to the middle of a haunted forest. Left on your own, you must navigate a dark trail safely back.
Some of the treats waiting for you are the Haunted Graveyard, the Clown Room, and a 600-foot maze. It won’t take long to question your decision to take on this challenge. After all, it’s won multiple awards for being incredibly frightening.
We’re warning you that this isn’t for everyone. Don’t set off on this adventure unless you can handle it. It may not be the best for little ones or those who frighten easily. And they don’t give refunds, so enter at your own risk.
#7 Rainbow Acres Campground, Virginia
Rainbow Acres Campground has more than 150 sites, 135 of which have full hookups. If you don’t have an RV, they have a dozen primitive tent spots. Many guests bring their boats or other watercraft and explore the Mattaponi River.
Its location makes it a prime place to relax. However, there’s plenty to see and do in the area, including the famous Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. So whether you want to stay busy or rest, you can do both at Rainbow Acres.
For Halloween, they host a contest throughout the month where you can compete to win various prizes. During the Halloween weekend, you’ll find activities throughout the day. Events include pumpkin painting, games, trick-or-treating, and a costume contest. They cap things off with an exciting hayride.

#8 Holiday Park Campground, Michigan
Traverse City is one of the best places in the country to experience the fall foliage. If you’re in this neck of the woods, consider a stay at Holiday Park Campground. Because it sits on the shore of Silver Lake, you’ll see epic reflections of the bright colors.
They have 219 sites for RVs and can accommodate rigs up to 45’ in length. Unfortunately, these are RV sites only, and tent camping isn’t an option. However, all guests can enjoy the private beach, multiple playgrounds, and various recreational areas.
For two weekends each year, they host family-friendly Halloween festivities for those camping on the grounds. These include decorating and costume contests, trick-or-treating, a haunted forest, and hayrides. Additionally, there’s a community campfire for s’mores, seasonal craft-making, and pumpkin-inspired adult beverages. They close out the weekend with coffee, cider, and donuts.
#9 Camp Margaritaville RV Resort and Lodge, Tennessee
Down the road from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Camp Margaritaville RV Resort and Lodge is a phenomenal park. If you’ve never been to a Margaritaville resort, they’re some of the most luxurious sites you can find. In fact, they offer a premium experience that’s hard for others to match.
This year-round resort has a lazy river, pickleball courts, and a calendar full of activities. You can soak up the laid-back vibe and island-inspired atmosphere.

#10 Colden Lakes Resort, New York
