Jam to the Music at these 3 June Festivals

Throughout the month of June, you can hit music festivals from sea to shining sea that cater to all tastes.

But you probably won’t want to buy your tickets without knowing what you’re getting into.

Today, we’re discussing three incredible events and how to make the most of them.

Let’s hit it!

Tips for Enjoying Music Festivals This June

June’s many music festivals are an excellent way to ring in the summer season and celebrate under the sun. You can find events dedicated to country, blues, rock, rap, and everything in between.

But before you dive into the party head first, here are a few tips to consider.

Firstly, it’s best to plan well in advance of your chosen festival. Tickets for popular events sell out quickly, and those VIP passes can slip through your fingers if you’re not on the ball. The same goes for shuttle passes and booking nearby accommodations.

Next, you’ll want to pack your festival bag carefully and remember all the essentials. Many venues restrict guests to clear totes and only allow empty water bottles. Always check the official website before you go to see what items are prohibited.

Be sure to stock up on sunscreen and remember to actually apply it before spending hours soaking in the rays. You’ll also want to pack hand sanitizer and a pack of wet wipes since sinks can be hard to find. A portable phone charger can also be a lifesaver.

Stay hydrated! It can be easy to indulge in open bars, especially when you spring for all-inclusive tickets, but you’ll need to replenish your electrolytes and make up for all that sun exposure, too.

Finally, remember to have fun!

3 June Music Festivals to Hit

Now that you know the top tips for enjoying yourself at a music festival, check out these three June events you won’t want to miss.

#1 Carolina Country Music Festival

The Carolina Country Music Festival (CCMF) is a relatively new addition to the June party circuit. The first CCMF took place in 2021, but it’s already one of the biggest country music events on the East Coast.

Each year, in early June, some of the hottest names in the genre head to the Boardwalk at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for this four-day party. The venue covers 18 acres of oceanfront real estate packed with food vendors, craft vendors, and, of course, live entertainment.

The 2024 event features big names like Morgan Wallen, Carrie Underwood, Old Dominion, and Parker McCollum. Previous performers include Miranda Lambert, Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt, the Marshall Tucker Band, Darius Rucker, and many more.

CCMF tends to sell out well in advance. However, they offer a ticket exchange program where folks who can’t make it can return their passes for a fair market value, and those in search of wristbands can buy them. Best of all, you can link your credit card to your wristband and use it to pay for purchases instead of lugging around your wallet.

#2 Chicago Blues Festival

Our next event is one for the record books. In fact, it’s the largest free blues festival on the planet!

The Chicago Blues Festival takes place each year in early June. The event has been a staple in the community since 1984. It began as a tribute to Muddy Waters, the Father of Chicago Blues, who passed away the previous year.

These days, over 500,000 visitors attend the four-day event. This festival continues to celebrate the past, present, and future of the genre.

The June 2024 music festival includes performances by Buddy Guy, Mr Sipp, and Shemekia Copeland. In previous years, BB King, Ray Charles, Bonnie Raitt, Bo Diddley, Gary Clark, Jr, Taj Majal, Etta James, Keith Richards, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Albert King, and the Neville Brothers have all taken the stage.

While most official shows take place lakeside at Millennium Park, you can find other shows throughout the city during the weekend of the Chicago Blues Festival.

#3 Blues from the Top Festival

The final June music festival on our list is another celebration of roots and blues. Blues from the Top Festival takes place at the Rendezvous Event Center in downtown Winter Park, Colorado, towards the end of the month. The 2024 event marks its 24th year. Headliners include Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Canned Heat, and Charlie Musselwhite.

Past events featured Grace Potter, the Record Company, Drive By Trucker, Galactic, Anders Osbourne, Honey Island Swamp Band, North Mississippi Allstars, Lucinda Williams, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Gov’t Mule, and more.

When you’re not taking in the tunes, you can enjoy tons of fantastic culinary options or stroll the craft market for some new goodies like fine art and handmade jewelry.

In addition to the official performances, you can catch intimate Blues After Dark shows at bars, restaurants, and other venues around town each night during the three-day festival.

Grand County Blues Society puts on this show each year. Most of the proceeds go to Blue Star Connection, a non-profit organization that supports music therapy programs in hospitals around the country.
