CAUTION: RV Park Issued a Boil Water Advisory from the State Government

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for the public water supply system at Seven Winds RV Park in Seward County. The advisory took effect on June 29 and will remain in place until the conditions that led to the risk of bacterial contamination are resolved.

The advisory was issued following a power outage that resulted in a loss of pressure in the water system. This loss of pressure could lead to a decrease in chlorine residuals and potential bacterial contamination. As a precaution, KDHE advises customers to take the following steps until further notice:

  • Boil water for at least one minute before drinking or using it for food preparation, or use bottled water.
  • Discard ice cubes and avoid using ice from automatic icemakers.
  • If tap water appears dirty, flush the lines by running water until it clears.
  • Disinfect dishes and food contact surfaces by immersing them in clean tap water with one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water for at least one minute.
  • Water for bathing does not generally need to be boiled, but supervision is recommended to prevent ingestion. Individuals with cuts or severe rashes should consult their physician.

KDHE will lift the advisory only after testing at a certified laboratory confirms that the water is safe for consumption. For further information, customers can contact the water system at 620-624-5581 or KDHE at 785-296-5514. More details can be found on KDHE’s PWS Consumer Information webpage.

This advisory follows several similar incidents in Kansas, highlighting the importance of maintaining infrastructure and prompt response to water safety issues. The residents and visitors of Seven Winds RV Park, known for its amenities and proximity to local attractions, are advised to follow these precautions to ensure their safety during this period.
