Why RVers Love Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway in Moab, Utah

Cruising through the desert in our vintage 16-foot Fiber Stream, the red rocks of Moab look like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. We rolled into Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway ( previously called Archview RV Resort), sunburnt but stoked, ready to park it and dive into some serious adventure.

Moab’s got this wild, untouched vibe that hits different, and pulling into the resort felt like we’d found the perfect spot to kick off our exploration.

The Lowdown on Sun Outdoors Canyonlands Gateway

Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway isn’t just your typical RV park—it’s practically an outdoor adventure HQ. Only a few minutes from Arches National Park, this place has full hookups, pull-through spots (ideal for our little Fiber Stream), tent sites, and some sweet cabins.

But the real draw? The views.

Red rocks everywhere you look, glowing with that golden hour magic. They’ve got a general store, too, which totally saved us when we realized we were low on sunscreen and snacks.

Our Personal Experience at Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway

As most of you know, we love boondocking. But with temps in the 100s, we jumped on the opportunity to experience Moab while camping with full hookups!

The park served as a perfect basecamp to explore all of Moab’s hot spots. We packed an awful lot into our time here, but overall, we barely scratched the surface of everything that Moab offers.

Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway has space for the largest of rigs, multiple tent campers and cabins for rent. You can view their website and all the rates here.

Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway, previously named Archview RV Park

Location: Moab,Utah

GPS38.6768, -109.6875

Date / Temp: We camped here for five nights in early September, and the temperatures were blazing hot, with highs in the 100s. Visiting later in the fall would be a good decision.

Amenities: Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway offers many amenities. It has a pool, splash pad, campground store, and multiple bath houses. Almost every RV site is pull-through with full hook-ups. Our favorite amenity is the resort’s location—it’s an easy drive to Arches and Canyonlands.

Wifi / Cell: We received a strong 4G LTE signal with both AT&T and T-Mobile. The speeds were fast, allowing us to stream movies and upload YouTube videos with ease. The Resort offers fast & reliable internet with speeds that would enable streaming movies & music.

Noise: Considering it’s size, it’s pretty quiet. There is a lot of activity on-site during the day, but the nights have been peaceful throughout our stay.

Grocery / Errands: Downtown Moab is about 10 miles away. There are a few grocers and lots of tourist shopping. We stocked up on food before arrival because prices can be steep at the local City Market.

Dog Friendly: This site is dog-friendly. There are many doggy waste stations located throughout the grounds. With full hookups, we felt comforted knowing our pup was cool while we were away.

Entertainment: Hiking, ATVing, and the two nearby national parks are popular activities in Moab. There is an extensive trail system connected to Archview RV Resort that is great for ATVing and hiking. We also highly recommend hiking the Devil’s Garden in Arches NP – but please bring lots of water!

Downtown Moab is worth checking out, too! Here’s a video of an evening we spent downtown.

Would We Visit Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway Again? Heck Yes!

Absolutely, without a doubt, yes! Moab holds a special kind of magic, and Sun Outdoor’s Canyonlands Gateway perfectly captures that desert vibe we can’t get enough of.

The combination of rugged adventure and laid-back camping feels like home to us, especially when we’re parked with our Fiber Stream right under those incredible red rock views. The access to nearby national parks, the killer sunsets, and the overall vibe make it a spot we’d revisit in a heartbeat.

Moab never disappoints, and neither does this park. We’ll be back—probably sooner than later!
