Chevy made a big announcement that the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD will offer the Multi-Flex Tailgate. Its goal with the Multi-Flex is to help users work smarter, not harder. So this unique element provides increased tailgate and bed usability through six special tailgate functions.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate was previously only available on the 2021 Silverado 1500, but 2022 will see this unique tailgate included in the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD.

Benefits of a Multi-Flex Tailgate

The tailgate can be transformed into a workstation or assist with loading materials into the bed. The tailgate’s functions activate from the key fob or tailgate-mounted buttons. Drivers will also be pleased to find a power tailgate button on the instrument panel as well.

The Multi-Flex tailgate can also function as a step that holds up to 375 pounds. This step makes accessing the bed of the truck incredibly easy. In addition, load stops prevent contents from sliding out of the bed when hauling longer loads. Each of these unique benefits will help owners work smarter, not harder.

Power Tailgate Available on Certain Trim Styles

It can be frustrating to jump into your truck, only to realize you left your tailgate down. You then have to jump out and close it to avoid the cargo in your truck bed ending up along the side of the highway. However, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500 HD, 3500 HD will include a power tailgate on the LT, LTZ, and High Country trim styles.

This power tailgate will allow users to open and close the tailgate with the press of a button on the key fob, in the cab, or on the tailgate itself. This feature makes it incredibly easy and convenient to open and close the tailgate.

How Much is the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD? 

While the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD has yet to hit dealership lots, you’ll likely see this truck with a starting MSRP at $34,000. This price will be the starting MSRP for the base model with a gasoline engine. Though, if you’re looking for the more powerful 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 engine, you’ll likely see a steep increase in price.

Due to the supply chain issues in early 2021 and increased demand for trucks, this will surely be a hot ticket truck this summer!

Towing and Payload Capacity of the 2022 Chevy Silverado

The 2022 Chevy Silverado will come in gas and diesel versions. Consumers should expect the gasoline-powered engine to have a tow rating of around 17,400 pounds. However, the more powerful and tow-friendly diesel engine will sit at about 36,000 pounds of towing capacity. Chevy is upping their game with the 2022 Silverado 3500 having a payload capacity of up to 7,442 pounds. That’s a whole lot of weight to tow and carry!
