Is the Sanibel 5th Wheel Worth It?

Are you looking for a luxurious and affordable fifth wheel? A Sanibel fifth wheel may be your answer. With double sink master bathrooms, walk-in closets, and lofts, the features of this brand are too long to list.

Here, we’ll look into who makes Sanibel and why they’re rising to the top of the radar. We also answer the question everyone wants to know – are they any good?

Let’s take an in-depth look at Sanibel’s pros, cons, and options.

What Is a Sanibel 5th Wheel?

Sanibel is a wide-bodied fifth wheel. It comes in nine different floor plans from 36 feet 1 inch to 43 feet 8 inches long.

They are luxury RVs that have been labeled “intelligent” by the manufacturer due to the high-quality construction, design, features, and curb appeal.

Who Makes Sanibel Fifth Wheels?

Prime Time Manufacturing makes Sanibel fifth wheels. The manufacturer has been building towable RV products since 2009. They are a division of Forest River, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company. This umbrella company allows them to provide benefits to customers, such as reasonable pricing.

The Advantages of a Sanibel Fifth Wheel

Purchasing a Sanibel fifth wheel gives you the assurance that you’re getting a solid and durable RV. They have two-inch laminated aluminum framed sidewalls, rear wall, and main floor. The slide-out room walls and roofs are also laminated aluminum, framed with welded construction.

In addition, Prime Time puts 100% glue coverage on all laminated parts of the Sanibel. And they have a one-piece TPO roof with a 12-year warranty.

The Sanibel fifth wheel comes in various floor plans that can accommodate occasional travel or full-time RV living. For example, there are two-room options, and one has a full bed in the rear second bedroom with a loft above. The interior of the Sanibel has roller shades throughout, legless dinette tables, residential appliances, stainless steel kitchen sinks, hardwood cabinet doors, electric fireplaces, and much more. They also feature luxury touches such as walk-in closets and stackable washer and dryer options.

The Disadvantages of a Sanibel Fifth Wheel

The main disadvantage of a Sanibel fifth wheel is the size. While a 100-inch wide body RV gives you optimum space for living, the downside is an increased difficulty in maneuverability. The Sanibel is also tall at 13 feet 1inch, so you have to be extra conscious of your height while traveling.

The length of the fifth wheel can also limit which campgrounds you’ll be able to stay in.

For example, the maximum length many national parks can accommodate is less than 35 feet in overall length. The shortest Sanibel model is 36 feet 1 inch long.

What Is the Smallest Sanibel 5th Wheel?

The Sanibel 3102WB is the smallest floor plan. It’s 36’ 1” long from the hitch receiver to the rear bumper, and it’s 100” wide. The dry weight is 11,058 lbs, and its cargo carrying capacity is 2,759 lbs. As far as the holding tanks are concerned, the freshwater has a capacity of 54 gallons, while the gray water tank can hold 73 gallons, and the black tank holds 39 gallons.

The interior has a large main bedroom in the front with a king-size bed, large wardrobe, dresser, and washer and dryer prep. Next to the bedroom is a full bathroom with a small linen closet. On the other side of the linen storage, you’ll find a walk-in pantry in the kitchen.

The kitchen has a lot of countertop space with an island in the middle. And it opens up to the large living area with an entertainment center, electric fireplace, theater seating, and a large sofa that folds out into a bed.

What Is the Largest Sanibel 5th Wheel?

The Sanibel 3902WB is the largest floor plan they make. It has a mid-bunk room and one and a half bathrooms bath. The main bedroom and full-sized bathroom with a large linen closet are at the front. There is a king-sized bed, washer and dryer prep, wardrobe, and dresser in the front bedroom. The second bedroom, or bunk room, sits in the middle of the RV. It has a flip-up bunk bed, jackknife sofa, loft with a 60 feet by 80 feet bunk mat, dresser, and the half bathroom is ensuite with this room.

In the living area and kitchen, you’ll find an open feel in the rear of the RV. With a large pantry and ample counter space, the kitchen has a residential refrigerator and a legless dinette that seats four. The living room has theater seating, an 80-inch couch that converts to a bed, and an entertainment center with an eclectic fireplace.

So how does all of this fit into a fifth wheel? The Sanibel 3902WB is a massive 43 feet 8 inches long, 100 inches wide with four slide-outs, and it’s 13 feet 1 inch high. The dry weight is 14,114 lbs, and the maximum cargo carry capacity is 2,316 lbs.

While there are two bathrooms in this floor plan, we were a bit surprised to see they didn’t increase the size of the holding tanks. Their capacity is the same as the 3102WB model at 54 gallons for the fresh water tank, 73 gallons for the gray tank, and only 34 gallons for the black tank.
