Another challenge is that it’s massive, and the only parking available is at your campsite. Getting around requires walking, riding a bike, or renting a golf cart. It can be exhausting, especially since you’ll likely rack up miles upon miles at EPCOT or the Magic Kingdom.
Cabins at Disney World’s Fort Wilderness
Disney World offers cabins at Fort Wilderness, which are a bit more luxurious and comfortable. Like the RV sites, these also have perks and drawbacks.
Advantages of the Cabins
Disney’s six-person cabins are fantastic for small families. These cozy spaces come with well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms. You’ll cherish being able to return to air conditioning for those mid-day breaks or after spending all day in the heat.

Although these are comfortable and spacious places to stay, they’re not ideal for larger groups. Those with more than six in their party will require multiple cottages. Additionally, six people in 500 square feet can get crowded.

Is Disney World Making Changes to Fort Wilderness?
One of the biggest complaints Disney has heard about Fort Wilderness is how the cabins feel outdated. Luckily, executives take this type of feedback seriously and are doing something about it.
Officials announced in early 2023 that 350 new units would replace the aged versions. These newer models would have a bedroom, bathroom, living room, and a full kitchen. They’ll also continue offering outdoor patio space. Some will even allow you to bring your furry friends.
The new cabins will open in 2024 as a new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property. While non-DVC members can book them, they’re subject to availability.
In addition to the new cottages, the campground will also feature an improved walking trail, pool, and more dining experiences. Overall, things look great for the future RV and cabin guests at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.
