Colorado Springs has several campgrounds that are less than 10 miles from the city center, giving visitors the opportunity to “live” very close to their daily adventures. 

These 7 best RV parks in Colorado Springs will keep you near attractions, but also secluded enough to have great camping vibes.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park

Price:  $32 to $41

Miles to Downtown:  8 miles

Why You’ll Love It:  Stunning views from the mountainside to the city of Colorado Springs should be enough to entice any RVer to Cheyenne Mountain State Park.  But there are a number of amenities that will seal the deal, like very spacious campsites, clean bathhouses and ranger-led programs. 

The campground is very close to many of the most popular destinations in The Springs, including the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Garden of the Gods and the Olympic Training Center. 

All can be explored while camping at one of the largest campgrounds in the region.

What’s The Word:  A recent review on says, “Well maintained, State Park in a great location overlooking Colorado Springs, CO. The Raptor Glen section is the highest in the campground and the nighttime views are stunning. Each site is concrete with a large gravel sitting area.”

Why You’ll Love It: If you’re looking for a campsite that is rustic in nature, a bit off the beaten path and with very friendly employees, Golden Eagle may be a good fit. 

The dirt roads are a little rutty, but it’s close to town and with all pull-through sites, it can handle most big rigs.  This can be a great staging area from which to explore the Colorado Springs area.

What’s The Word:  A recent review on stated, “This park is unique to say the least. We actually enjoyed our stay here, but had to get past a few quirks. The sites are all pull through and you share the electricity pole and water connection with your neighbors next door.”

Goldfield RV Park

Price:  $32 to $40

Miles to Downtown:  3 miles

Why You’ll Love It:   When being close to the action is important, Goldfield RV Park is where you’ll want to stay.  It’s so close to downtown that you be able to see it from your RV. 

Space is tight and there aren’t many amenities… But this campground is designed more for those “commuters” who are looking for a place to lay their heads before heading out to explore Colorado’s Front Range.

What’s The Word:  A recent reviewer on exclaimed: “We stayed here for a few weeks while visiting Colorado Springs, Colorado. The staff run this well-oiled machine perfectly – flawlessly moving RV around the park like chess pieces on a grand master board. They have but one goal: to accommodate every guest possible.”

Fountain Creek RV Park

Price:  $50 

Miles to Downtown:  3 miles

Why You’ll Love It:  Location, location, location!  The Fountain Creek RV Park campground itself is just a stopover… But its location in historic Old Colorado City puts campers close to Garden of the Gods, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, great restaurants and shopping. 

Fountain Creek is definitely not an RV resort. But if you need a place to park your rig while you explore Colorado Springs, it will do just fine.

What’s The Word:  A recent review on said, “This site was clean and nicely shaded. Dirt roads with dirt sites, all well maintained. Picnic table on concrete slab. Had no problem getting my 35′ rig in a spot, with room to park my truck in front or back.”

Pikes Peak RV Park

Miles to Downtown:  5 miles

If you like a challenge, climb the Manitou Incline! Or just relax and take the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak.  You’ll be rewarded in all directions from this small campground, with Rainbow Falls, the North Pole and Garden of the Gods close by.

What’s The Word:  A recent reviewer on commented, “We stayed here after visiting Pikes Peak and because it was close to shopping in Manitou Springs. Check in was efficient and pleasant. Sites are tight and there seem to be a few full timers here.”

These 32 campsites with electrical hookups and several sites can handles RVs up to 45 feet in length.  Look out your window in the morning and watch the sun rise over the red rocks of Garden of the Gods!

Why You’ll Love It:  Finding a campsite in popular spots like Colorado Springs, especially in summer, is a difficult task. But this park is here for you!  Falcon Meadow is a few miles east of the city and this campground has taken on the overflow from campgrounds closer to the action. 

Its large sites make your stay quieter and spacious, and its proximity to grocery stores and shopping is all within walking distance.

What’s The Word:  A recent review at said, “We are here in summer and this area is jammed. We could not find availability within a 20 mile radius of Colorado Springs and there are a lot of Campgrounds in the area. So reserve early!!”
